Unit..

I see you say a lot that you don't like Mach 1's...what's the beef? I don't own an LS1 or an 03 Cobra...but I respect both for what they are....and the Mach 1 is a VERY respectible performance vehicle as well. All American Muscle, whether it be GM or Ford.

Glad to see someone knows what the Mach 1 engine really is...thanks Skarecrow!!

I repect the Mach 1 for what it is. I don't like the styling or N/A 281ci motors. Plain and simple. It doesn't have enough power for me and I dislike it's appearance. I don't hate the car. I just don't like it.

SDC,

Really? and if I told you ls1's always lose to Mach 1's in my area what would you say? The answer is sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Depends on the driver and the car. "Always" is a pretty broad statement. The thing about internet talk is you don't have to prove anything.

Unit,

Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion. However, power aside, if I had to choose between the Mach 1 and 03 Cobra on looks alone it would be Mach 1 hands down. 03 Cobra is too vanilla for me. Also, I have a lot more respect for pushing power out of an N/A motor...it takes more patience and know-how. Anybody can slap on a power adder or NX and generate lots of power...my $.02 worth.

It shares the head design with the Mercury Marauder, I believe it also uses the same cams as the Marauder 4v. The intake cams are similar (if not the same) as the Lincoln Navigator 5.4L intake cams, and the exhaust cams are similar (if not the same) as the old 99/01 cobra exhaust cams.
Just a couple of corrections:

The Mach 1 block - while very similar to the 99/01 Cobra block - is not the same.

The '03/'04 Mach 1/Marauder/'03/'04 Cobra all share the exact same heads & cams (both intake & exhaust).

Agreed.

I've never had a FI car before so the '03 Cobra is a new beast for me. I've had sprayed & N/A cars. Actually, my Cobra is both sprayed and blown. I have seen a few Mach's that I liked. A wheel swap and lowering springs does wonders for those cars. Building N/A cars is easy...just costly.

i have a grey mach 1 and im running 12.90's with i dont think it deserves a little respect considering you paid about 4,000 more than i did and have 70 cubic inches on us i think ford is doing a little beter with their technology than chevy. i went to the track sunday and lined up with a 2000 camaro ss with exhaust and k/n and he ran the same time as me go figure.

By the way, do you run 12.9's on drag radials, or street tires?
