Gearing: At 50 mph ...
A4's
3:23's = ~3400 rpms, 2nd gear (won't downshift, one of the best spots to hit an a4 LS1)
3:42's = ~3600 rpms, 2nd ... same deal
3:73's = ~4000 rpms, 2nd ... danger zone ... getting into the power-band now.
M6's:
3:42's = 4000 rpms, 2nd gear ... one of the worst spots you could possibly engage an M6 LS1 from ... is between 50-55 mph. They shouldn't have traction issues, and they have the entire power band of second gear, and all of the dreaded third gear to utterly rape you with (then 4th of course if you are still remotely in the race).
3:73's = ~4500rpms, 2nd gear .... ouch, right in the power-band same deal as above.
4:10's = ~ 4900 rpms, 2nd gear ... getting a little high now, some may even choose to start the race in 3rd gear, rather then start at 5 grand, especially those with the stock rev limiter. Those of us with 6500+ rev limiters would probably go from second, however. Still dangerous, but much less than the other 2 gearings. Personally, I like to go from a 40-45 mph roll ... since I have 4:10's, it keeps me in 2nd gear, keeps the spinning to a minimum, and I have half of 2nd, all of third and all of 4th to reek havoc. (btw, 4th gear on an M6 with 4:10s ends around 125 mph (w/ 6600 rev limiter).
Weights: (These do vary a little bit from year to year, but this is a good estimate)
T-Top / Coupe Cars:
Z28 & Formula: 3350-3450 lbs
Trans Am: 3400-3500 lbs
SS & WS6: 3400-3550 lbs
Firehawk: 3350-3500 lbs
Verts:
Z28 & Trans Am: 3525-3625 lbs
WS6 & SS: 3550-3675 lbs

I was wrong. I checked on the way home and and M-6 with 3.4's will be at 4 grand at 50 mph. Just figure I'd correct what I posted earlier.
I checked on the way in, in "D", i.e. 4th/overdrive, i'm turning about 2100rpm at 65mph, and 1750rpm at 50mph.
Contrary to my earlier statement, when I stomped on it at 50mph, It did drop a gear, and the tach shot way into high 3k range. I let off too quick to figure out exactly what gear It was in (I would guess second?) because I was trying to avoid hitting the traffic in front of me.
Jumping from 50mph still wasn't nearly the grunt of jumping from 65mph though.
If you ever REALLY want to kill an A4 with a stock converter, take it from a 35mph roll. It's feels like a v6, accelerating from that speed.
