hey i know this is the kills section but i only post here and i know most of you guys and i had a couple ?'s ......first in both an m6 and an a4 what rpm/gear would you be in at 50mph ??......second whats the weight of a f-body ? ,t-tops , coupe , vert ? thanx

With 4.10's 50mph is a threshold for me. Just shy of 50, I'll drop down to 2nd. North of 50, I'll throw it in 3rd.

I think at 65, i'm around 1200-1400, in 6th, just cruising by. I forget really haha. I weighed in at 3460 with a full tank and without my fatty 240lb body in there. It's a fully optioned t-top z.

50mph? I dunno, I hardly ever drive that speed. I'll pay attention next time I do, and report back.

Btw A4 with stock converter (and 3.23:1 gears) from a 50mph roll will be a DOG. Computer doesn't downshift, it just accelerates in gear. ugh. That's one of the reasons I cruise at 65mph.

You don't want to test my car at a 55mph roll. That's the sweet spot in 2nd gear. All holy hell breaks loose. I'll go to third at anything over 60mph and fourth when over 80mph.

An M-6 with 3.4's will be around 5 grand at 50 mph in second. Talk about all hell breaking loose. A definate sweet spot for those gears. Problem is, many don't want to race from a 50 but from a 60 roll. I need my 4.10's. lol

A 60 roll is good for me. Not much gear left when spraying 3.55's in 2nd gear at 60mph on top of a blower making 16psi. Gotta be quick on the trigger.

Spraying with all that has got to be crazy. Takes skill. Manuals can be a b1tch. I'll probably run a freaking 13 something the first time I get on the track.

It just takes practice. It's always come naturally to me. It's pretty easy actually. Just tap the clutch about 2 inches in and powershift the **** out of it. It helps having a Pro 5.0 shifter. Still rowing like crazy though.

I have an A4 vert with stock gears. But with my loudmouth, if I don't let it shift to OD above 50, I start drowning out the Airports from a mile away.

Yeah A4 Ls1's do suck at a 50mph roll, but they do surprisingly well from a 60 or a 65mph roll. Oh and to answer 281's question at 50mph in a A4 you'll be at about 2000-3000rpms in 2nd gear. First gear usually runs out at about 40-45, and 2nd around 80 i believe. I not 100% sure on the 80 because at that speed i usually try to watch the road because a wreck at 80 would be some rough ****. Oh and all of that is with 273 gears which is what most A4 Ls1's come with, other than the occasional one wiht 323's.

Yeah, I've always been good with a manual. It's mainly the launching I worry about. (Street tires and am not getting DR's) The 2/3 3/4 I can fly on. I need to get a shift light this spring though.

I thought most A4s came with 3.23s? Maybe I was lucky to get them on mine. I didn't even know to check the door codes to find out till I'd already owned the car for a few days.

Agreed on 65mph. The only stronger speed I've found to launch from in my car is 25mph (well, and maybe 0mph. haha). Stomping on it at 25mph, I have **** fly out of my pockets (cell phone jumps out almost every time), and one time I had a dry leaf that'd made it's way all the way at the front of the dash, fly backwards from a 25mph WOT burst... and the windows were closed.

With my factory 3.42 gears in 6th gear at 50 mph I am at about 1000 rpm's exactly.

id be in 2nd gear if i were goin from a 50 roll, somewhere in the neighborhood of 4800 or 5k rpms, if i drive my car ill see tmrw
