Its always seemed fishy to the local crowd too, since he has yet to back it up. He has run a few 8.20's with worse 60' times but his mph is pretty consistent on 86ish.

IDK what to think about this race. All I can do is speculate. Plenty of variables could have been involved that we don't know about.

He did roll race a local bolt'on LS1 A4 that traps 88 and only lost by a car length.

still want that rematch with jays car(as that race was when i only made 290rwhp and still weighed 3290, however i think my tranny is in need of synchros in 3rd and 5th after today but oh well, stopsign the car actually is kinda light 3250(w.o me) its a stripper car with no a/c or swaybar or spare. but my dyno numbers were SAE for the other guy.

The weight reduction definitely comes into play. You probably have a few hundred pounds on a hawk. With a 1/2 tank and only the spare & jack removed, I was 3440 without me, so it doesn't sound so far fetched. If you can drive, that only helps more.

I'm with stopsign this whole deal dosn't add up. I had my old lt1 for years and even cammed i was barely beating bolton ls1 cars and routinely lost to bolt on ls1 m6. Full bolt ons and a 224 230 xe comp cam with a 2800 stall i was only running 8.3 in the 8th. I'm sorry but i'm throwing out the

I ran the times in my sig with nearly the same mods and untuned in crappy humid weather

It is untainable, however most auto LT1's with those mods do ~280ish rwhp TUNED

sounds believeable to me, I've beat up a couple stock ls1's bad, one of which was a full option ss car. Also my car dynoed 311hp and 307lb ft on a mustang dyno, numbers are corrected, but seem way off though, but afr was 11.8-12.2 thoughout the run. By best et is in my sig and I have a slip and vid to prove it. This guy could just have a very strong running lt1, mine doesn't do too bad for having 171k+ miles on it. OP, your car's not a 1le car is it?

I could understand if this was from a dig, but this whole pulling cars on him from an 85 roll is the part that doesnt sound right to me.

I've owned a 94 Formula A4 with the same mods as my current LS1 SS. It was great down low, but didnt pull anywhere near as hard as my 02 SS up top. My SS pulls way harder up top compared to my A4 Formula, and my Formula had pasesetter LT's, ORY, CAI, and SLP LM2 exhaust. Especially if were talking about an 85 roll, when the Hawk got the hit!

Default hmm

if that guys light bolt on car is running 7.9 that is AMAZING. my car is cammed, full bolt on, and full exhaust. and i run 7.9 off the juice. and my car runs damn good, its more of a 1/4 mile car cause i have 3.73 but still, i just find it VERY VERY hard to believe his car runs like that. i mean hell the "almighty" LS1 would have a very hard time running that being LIGHT bolt on. and just to put it into perspective a 7.9 roughly translates into a 12.4-12.5 quarter. i do not believe the guy. maybe LIGHT bolt on with nitrous.

Does your car weigh 3200 pounds?

Just to get an idea, isn't 7.9 around.....12.5 in the 1/4th? He has a good bit more torque than HP so his trap speed was a very low 83mph which would make his 1/4th trap speed what...103-104mph? Yet his ET shows a mid 12 second run.

It's closer to the 12.2-12.3 range I think

He was prob. on the brakes hard as he crossed the line. Thats why he's running low 12's but trapping 13's with his bolt-on LT1..

I guess he doesn't want to be forced to put a 6 point roll bar in his car.

Jk, that was mean. But your post did make me laugh.

The OPer seems pretty cool the times I've talked to him. I just don't know about this story and the times he claims.

ive trapped 86.xx several times guys im down to race any ls1 car with similar mods im in upstate, sc. But i wouldnt say its light bolt ons(to me light would be cai/catback)
My car has OEM style Ram Air Hood(with ls1 k&n FIPK), 160 stat, long tubes, 3" cutout(always open), 1.6 RRers, lt4 springs, tuned. I can drive well, its light and has 3.42s(good for hwy races) I dont get why its so hard to believe but im not here to appease you guys...
