After leaving a show on Saturday I was headed home and drove up beside a blue first gen early GTO (2004?) assuming its the LS1 at a stop llight. I notice the license plate says "1BADGTO" and I'm guessing its modded so I'm not looking to race. The guy never even looks over at me but when the light turns he launches hard. So, the chase is on, he's almost a whole car out before I leave but I'm not spinning and by the end of 1st gear I'm reeling him in quick and then when I hit second I'm on his bumper and then just drive past him before even hitting third. I'm very surprised how easily I reel him in.
When we get to the light I stop and ask him if he'd lifted and he says no. I actually thought he'd gotten out of it because I just blew past him. He then says -"You've done some work to that" and I reply "It's just an LT1, nothing special, but it does make 366 at the tire..." He also said his car was basically stock. We didn't get another run, but he seemed like a decent guy. Told him to check out my car club online. He turns right and I keep going straight.
At the next light a couple older guys in a pickup get my attention and tell me that my car is "fast as ****". I tell them thanks.
It was nice to get a run in and remember why I did those mods in the first place. A modded F-body versus a stock LS1 GTO isn't exactly a fair race, but it still felt like a nice win especially after getting called out.

Car is a Formula hardtop, LT1-355, Stock ported heads, big (2.00/1.56 Raceflow valves), CC305 Cam, 1.6 Rockers, M6, 4.10 gears, about 100 lbs of weight reduction. PCM4less tune.
100 Shot fogger system is still in the box.

GK, I hate when people just randomly jump me like that. I use to beat 04 gto's with my first z28 listed down below(without the bottle) at the track, but of course there were some pretty bad drivers. Although I don't think that'd be true with the one I have now even if 1st gear is useless with street tires.

Dyno sheet is attached. I'm sure some have seen it already. This was a budget build, basically a CC305 Cam, heads HAND PORTED by a local shop with a 3 angle valvejob and 1.6 rockers. A 52mm tb and ram air setup. Seriously nothing "special" or unusual I think. Running a stock Autozone Optispark with a Mallory 685. Oh, and this is with BBK shorties and ORY and Hooker catback.
The car idles nearly stock honestly and still has A/C. It's not much to look at either, but fast beats pretty in this case all day long.
