Yesterday I was going home from the gym and had merged onto the local 6 lane road. I was in my Silverado with the windows down and radio on.
Traffic was sparse and I was in the middle lane coming up on a gray Nissan 240 with a giant fart can in the right lane. The car was in pretty good shape with a nice set of wheels. It was buzzy as hell and the driver was doing a little over 50 in what must have been 4th gear.
I got my front fender to his door as I passed but the driver downshifted and punched it. He slowly pulled ahead. I nailed the gas in Overdrive and the "Big Green Truck" reeled him in and got past no problem. (gotta get the PE delay tuned out though)
We ended up at a red light. The 240 pilot was anticipating the light, rolling forward on the clutch. I dropped the truck into Drive and pulled the T-case lever into 4WD. Knowing he was going to give 'er hell off the line I power braked a few seconds before the green. He held the car at a steady RPM waiting to let out the clutch.
The light went green and I took off in "hick" AWD. I heard the 240 scratching tire over the paint stripes but I was gone. I slowed down about an eigth mile down the road and set the cruise at the speed limit. The 240 stayed at my side. I never looked at the kid in the Nissan but could see him out of the corner of my eye looking at the truck trying to figure it out. He put his turn signal on and disappeared down a side road.
My truck may not be fast (beating a stock engined 240 is no big deal) but it's more fun shutting down a buzzbomb import in a 125k mile extended cab with a brushgaurd and A/T tires than in the Camaro.

I couldn't be that mean. I remember when I thought my low 14 second Monte Carlo was the bomb in High School. He obviously put some money into his Buzzy Bee car. It was hard enough supressing the "**** eating" grin that was growing.
haha, low 14's isn't all that bad for a high-schooler!
