yea I had the alligator backwards...my bad...
I seem to remember the ls1 vettes running 13.3-13.5 at 106-109 and the LS2 vettes running 13.1-13.3 at 108-111..
considering one came out in 1997 and the other in 2005..yes I was very disapointed with the LS2 vettes and LS2 in general..
A c5Z06 isnt just a lil faster than a ls2 vette..same driver same track in normal conditions would turn a 114 mph trapp in a C5Z06 and a 110 mph trapp in a LS2 vette. LS3 vette finally got it right and can turn that same 114 trapp..LS3 would beat a LS2 like a red headed step child..

I guess I have seen and experienced different results for the LS2 Vette. I have personally seen one stock except for a tune turn a 12.44 @ 114. Now I would agree that is an exception with a great driver but it is far superior than what you have seen. But Car and Driver tested it back in 2005 and turned a 12.7 @ 113 with not so great drivers. Anyways I am not saying you are wrong in your opinion but there are better results out there than what you are stating. That being said I would agree that stock for stock a C5Z will beat an LS2 Vette. Namely because the C5Z is actually more like 425 HP and it is in a lighter package, I believe some have seen 11.90's in great conditions.

I ran a 12.25 in my C5Z in its stock days!

Some are gonna argue with me on the LS1 and LS2 being equal...But the LS1 IMHO is the best engine ever built..
From what I saw the LS1 wettes were 300 rwhp and the LS2 vettes were 330 rwhp..But due to bad pcm management on the LS2's they didnt really seem any faster...

c6 ls2 are dog slow instock trim and no match for a c5-z06 but once the tm is removed the car wakes up a lot...the way my car runs now is prove of that, gm backed it down to keep its halo car (c5-z06) at the top

4 inch bore > 3.9 inch bore. Atleast the ls2 can swap over to ls3 heads and intake on the cheap... the ls2 just isnt anything special over the ls1/6, especially to call it gen 4, same heads as ls6 and worse intake but they got the 4 inch bore right

I have been thinking about a Corvette myself next spring and it seems like the LS3 (2008) is the car of choice when looking at C5Z's and C6's. You can make big horsepower with just an intake, CAI, headers and cam without ever needing to touch the heads. For a car that I'll still be making payments on, going into the motor too deep isn't really something I want to do.

No doubt the LS3 is a superior engine but the LS2 is more than capable. You just have to mod smart. As far as trans ratio in the C5Z, the manual Z51 option on a C6 gets you the same trans & rear ratio as a C5Z. Funny how there's so much love for 6.0 GTOs yet when the same engine is in a lighter more refined car such as the C6, it's suddenly no good anymore? If the LS2 is ****, what does that make the LS1?
