Nice runs. Looks like the T/A had a slight advantage from the slow roll, and the 5.0 had it on the higher ones. I want to get my hands on a 5.0 crate motor to put in something I like the body style of

That Mustang sounds great good races!! This might probably shut up the kids with lids, bellows and catback who think they can smack 5.0s with mods .

Wonder what would happen if it was a day race(headlights down in t/a) and T/A had a LS6 intake on it?

For us bolt on guys looks like you will need a cammed car to beat a bolt on 5.0s....very impressive car.

If I had a LS6 intake I would probably have an advantage. I think the OP will agree with that one. The races were pretty close, it sucks that the Mustang didn't have a passenger for most of the races. A rematch is in the works...

Also, The Mustang is headed to the track Wednesday if weather holds out.

Thanks man...

My tuner coudlnt believe the power gains. Here is the before/after chart

A cammed LS1 is still very tough to beat.

I have no problem admitting if you had a LS6 intake manifold, and I had a passenger that you would have the advantage up top as well...

I'd probably lose 1-2 cars, but you never know till we find out lol

The car has potentail but its not like a LSX where a heads/cam swap gains 80-100rwhp. The reason being the 5.0 already makes 400 crank hp whereas the LS1 makes what 305-325?
Umm my statement was talking about the heads also, reading comprehension for the loss to you haha. And yes you are right there is a reason the 5.0 makes 400 and the ls1 makes 350 and it's called technology

I agree, you need a ls6 intake and retry, good races though for sure.... And Good luck intervention at the track, hope the clutch doesn't cause you any problems

So what about an ls6 intake(ls1) full bolt on vs full bolt on 5.0?

I think its safe to say that your going to need full bolt ons and a cam to compete with a bolt on only 2011 5.0.

Thats still a question yet to be answered. F bodies and GTOs ahve both gone 11s bolt on only. It is however awesome what Ford has done with Stang and the new 5.0 motor.

TA is most likely a little heavier. A fully loaded TA with T-tops is a 3600lb+ car.

And yes, it's quite obvious they switched passengers....

The LS6 intake would put the top end advantage right back with the LSx as the LS1 intake puts the motor in a "choke hold" so to speak past about 6k RPM.

Regardless of all of this, it's really cool to see just how well the LSx still performs and just how much unlocked potential there is with regard to the 11' 5.0's!

Man those new 5.0's are impressive! I love the front end and power plant, but I hate the rear and side profile. I'd still get one though. LOL

I was talking about roll racing. On the dragstrip...more variables come into play.

Yeah, many more variables...

Roll racing is more of car vs car

Drag racing is driver vs driver...

Dont Make fun lol. My heart skipped a beat whn I thought about how old my little ls1 is.... Your right though technology in the new 5.0 is a night and day difference in compared to the ls1. I am a Gm guy by heart but now that im seeing these 5.0 get out there and doing some damage to cammed f-bodies its proof of what they can do. I guess if I race one with a tune and bolt ons ill take the honorable death. Nice numbers op and that trans am needs an LS6 intake asap!

On the 50 roll I was at the very bottom of 2nd gear. Its about the worst roll I could do in my car. Which is why he pulled me good in the last race.

...and so the El es Juan brethren, whom have found themselves clamoring as they writhe about the pavement, struggle to remount their aging high horse whose lacerated and bleeding hooves feed the incessantly thirsty, quad-cammed demon the blue oval camp hath cut loose upon thee.

Looks like it's time to step our game up!

^well that's probably the best you can do with stock gears. I know when I top out 1st gear I'm exactly at 50mph. Well we know you were in the right gear, I think that's ruled out all possible "excuses" (except for the intake)

Good runs, im impressed with just the mods only. This has me leaning more towards the 5.0 as a new ride come next year more then the Camaro, Evo, SRT8300, & G8 GT. Unless i find a nicely used low mileage gt500 lol

Also, i read on a mustang forum (forget which one). That the motor's are potentially being maxxed out with full bolt ons and someone mentioned that Roush said they so far, could only go up to 8psi and more then that was risking it. If i remember correctly, ill have to look it up again and quote the post on here.

Honestly when I was searching this summer I went from wanting to buy new SS>new 5.0> and finally came back to my senses and bought the car of my dreams >WS.6

The new 5.0 can get expensive quick though, with options like navi, glass roof, I got an estimate of about $45k. With fully equipped 2SS I was a heartbeat away from driving it off the lot for $36k!
