Default Breaking in the Yank against an eclipse

I just installed my new Yank SS4000 and LVL 5 4l60e. I was out cruizing and breaking it in when I ran across a 2nd gen eclipse with a body kit and a fart can

I rolled up next to hit doing about 45-50 and let him hit it. As soon as a heard the fart I planted my foot, my stall flashed, tranny downshifted, and my tires bit hard! In fact my GPS that was suctioned to the windshield flew off and landed in the floor. I pulled at least 6 cars on him before I let out at 90...he couldnt have been turbo'd...no way. Even stock turbo one would have held on better than that. But o well just breaking in the converter and having some fun Peace

Good kill. Sometimes you have to put people in their place, and where better to start than a POS body-kitted Eclipse?

They give us all a bad name (DSMers and other car enthusiasts alike).

That could cover a whole lot of different setups, many of which would own the OP's car.

haha yeah. I just find it hard to believe a single turbo would have fell that far behind so fast. I know i can blow the doors off a single turbo eclipse and Ive ran with a tt one but still...idk. O well lol. I actually want a turbo 2nd gen for a daily driver

Bolt on and stock eclipses are huge turds, they have alot of potential when fully built but for the most part they are pieces of crap, my wife had an 04 Eclipse when i met her and that thing was no better than a Geo Metro performance wise.

well the bases are terrible yes. but the 2nd gen gst and gsx arent too bad. 210 horse and awd on the gsx. but your right. they are more potential than anything else

idk if this is sarcasm but, 1st and 2nd gen eclipses are all 4 cyl. and the ones that are turbo'd ONLY come with 1 turbo. and for whoever said that they have to be built, the stock 1st gen block has been known to handle 500whp. there seem to be a little confusion in this thread. i have had more DSM's than i care to remember, and they DO have alot of potential but get a bad name because they are so cheap and pimplefaced 16y/o can get one and throw a boost controler on it, turn up the boost and blow his engine.

Glad to see we have another DSM apologist on here...

...

The 3rd and 4th gen Eclipses cannot be compared to the first two generations in terms of easy performance potential.

It's very important to distinguish what year and trim the car is, because there is quite an important gap between base models and AWD turbo models.

I'd say more of a gap than there even is between a V6 and an V8 F-Body.

I wish I would have gotten all of the "raced a pos DSM" races when I had mine. There sure would have been a lot of sad F body owners. Dont get me wrong, I love my Camaro, but the DSM was equally nasty. 600+hp awd is nothing to be taken lightly. Even looking bone stock, I never got the races like everybody talks about.
