your thinking of the newer Vipers, the R/T-10 is the old base version of the Viper, 400 horsepower, not 500.
RT/10 from 92-02
92-93 ~ 400hp/450tq
94 ~ 400hp/480tq
95 ~ 400hp/465tq
96 ~ 415hp/488tq
97-02 ~ 450hp/490tq

I don't know where the 12.8 second quarter on the Viper came from on PAGE 1 of this thread....mine ran 11.74 bone stock w/ 431rwhp. Usually between 12.1 and 11.8 with a GOOD driver, and a little faster for the HOT ones.

The Gen 1 RT/10's are quite a bit slower than the newer Gen 2's (1996 GTS and up, 1997 RT/10 and up). A Gen 2 would have given you a better run.

Good kill!

damn nice kill, I have never raced a viper before..

The other day me and my buddy did get a chance to "bother" a gts viper but I think this one was modded. We caught up to it doing about 50 and he smoked the tires like he was standing still. That one must have been modded and we had no room to run but we would have lost no question. That damn viper sounded really raw and just nasty (not that I did not like the sound of it). The vette/ls1's sound so much smoother. I guess those extra pistons really change the pitch.

Bottom line, Vipers sound like complete DOGSHIT......More like a pissed off weedwacker you could say

However they're some of the best/meanest lookin cars on the road IMO

firing order does everything to the sound of your car, and vipers have a very crazy firing order, but i am not sure of what it is. im sure there is someone on the board that would know it......

.
1, 10-9, 4-3, 6-5, 8-7, 2 (unequal firing 90 degrees and 54 degree intervals)

That could account for it.

I think that guy was laughing at the guy with the "ricer excuse" of the viper having two extra pistons, rods, etc. Very nice kill. I think a viper kill is at the top of everyone's list.

Yea I was going to say something about the 12.8 time of the Viper.

That is really stretching out on a limb to quote one of the worsts times ever for an experienced driver in a viper just to compare to the best time ever by a pro driver in a LS1 f-bod.

I do not like the sound of the viper. I also don't particularly like the sound of the LS1. But I love and respect the amount of power both cars make.

I was referring to the weight of the motor, not the fact that they have two more cylinders. My post was in response to somebody talking about a larger crank.

Jesus H. Christ, you can get called a ricer on this board for eating the wrong flavor ice cream.
