I can attest to that. We stayed pretty much neck and neck with my bimmer. Those cars roll out. BTW, I had more of a challenge running hugger than some bolt on ls1 fbodies.

Found a good parking lot Saturday morning for some sliding around shenanigans. Gotta find something fun to do during the winter Did you have to get some winter tires for the Balt?

All depends on the cam I guess. If it's a baby cam then I could see it especially if the driver is shifting a 6 speed. If he isn't power shifting then that is a huge disadvantage as the cobalts were designed to no lift shift. Anything can happen on the streets

boost is pretty quick but when u are on full boil, why let it drop from 24lb to 10? even if it is for .3 seconds, itsenough to lose a race.
car was made to NLS but not to brake boost. not worth it in my opinion.

So you don't want to let the boost drop a little between shifts, but you'll start the race in full vacuum?

For the car to be made to do it, NLS is much harder on the drivetrain than brake boosting. SRT-4's were also "made to do it", and they are notorious for tranny problems.

Dodge in general is known for transmission problems.

I think brake boosting depends on the car. For 335i/335xi's brake boosting actually causes the car to bog more. I've tried it and in theory it should allow you to build boost but it doesn't for those particular cars. Not sure if the computer is interfering or not, but others have tried and have the same experience. At the same time, the turbo's spool in the 335i's so quickly compared to a single large turbo on a 4 cylinder.

Do 335i's have DBW throttle bodies?

not a whole lot of tranny issues on these so far.

and i didnt know srt had the algorythm nls program. i thought it was jut guys banging gears where i have .25 seconds to nail it while the car holds revs.

The staged computers in the SRT's have the program. They advertise it when you upgrade.

We have the same thing available on the Evo's now.

That might explain the bogging. I read of the same problems with the Genesis Coupe, which also has a DBW throttle body.

To me it kinda seems like something BMW would do to prevent x, y, or z problem. So many systems, sensors, and controls.

Yes, and no I don't like them. The car makes absolutely no power until around 3,500RPM, whereas the Cobalt SS makes peak torque of 260ft/lbs at 2,000RPM. Evo also lags much more than the SS, there is a much longer delay between opening the throttle and getting maximum boost pressure.

Huge difference.
