Default Shocked

Ok so tonight this guy asked me if I wanted to run my T/A against his Cobalt SS. After all I have a SS and know what they run like so i was like sure thinking I'd pull from the time my foot hit the carpet. So we go from a 30 or 40 mph roll and I barely inch on him all the way through 2nd and 3rd but once I hit 4th i immediately pull 2 cars on him. We did this several times so it was consistent even from a dig which i kicked sideways during but everytime door to door and then i'd walk on him once i hit 4th. Should this have been that close. He said he had a stage 1 kit was the only mod. Thanks

Seems even too much for a Stage 2...I thought you could get a Stage 3? Either way great race, and I am sure he was hiding something from you.

I don't think they make anything other than stage 1 for the 08 and up. They did for the 05-07. His was an 09. I just can't believe it was that close.

Default Sst/c

I just ran a 2009 sst/c yesterday, they are tough little bastards. I was able to move away from him at a pretty good clip, but it def wasn't a walk away.
I would say 1 car quickly then another 1/2 by 75/80. We talked afterwards, nice guy, he had a tune and exhaust. He wants to upgrade his turbo (50?) this winter.

But my Trans Am isn't stock mods are in sig. I couldn't do **** with him until about 85 when i shifted into 4th which he would have still been in 3rd as im going into 4th. I mean i barely pulled a fender length on him all the way through 2nd and 3rd but 4th gear i pulled FAST. There must be a big difference between a stocker and a stage 1 mine doesn't run anything like that.

Maybe he did a great job of brake boosting or like someone else said he has done more to his car then stated. Here's a clip for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP6au5_lVB0&feature=fvw

I went to Radford years ago and I've been up your neck of the woods. I don't remember ever seeing any straight roads But it sure was beautiful

I ran a cobalt sc with my ss/tc and it ran nothing like the cobalt i ran in the T/A. The 08 and up cobalts have no lift shift to keep boost pressure up when shifting. He was doing it because i heard the pop between gears. He didn't have a snow ***** chance in hell of catching me once I hit 4th tho.

You don't need to brake boost a Cobalt SS T/C. If you're in the powerband, the turbo spools almost instantly. Its a dual scroll unit and its properly sized for the motor. Its not like an Evo where you have a 4 second delay for the turbo to spool.

Have you driven an evo (which is also twin scroll)? 16gs are awesome turbos.
