Those dohc 5 speed saturns from the 90's are no joke, when you're talking ecobox's. I had one run 15.6@87 with just an intake and stiffer motor mounts. They have excellent gearing and will put down better 60 fts than I can achieve in my trans am on street tires. I pulled on lots of sports cars up to 55mph, then they would reel me in and pass me pretty quickly...

There was a cult group of Turbo Saturn owners. Kind of died off, but still on my list of things I'd like to build someday. They handle great. Even better than my MR2 handled. Turbo Saturns FTW!

I feel ya on the winter thing, OP. I just ran my brother's 5-speed Ion 3 in my automatic Honda Fit yesterday. Even got a video of it. It wasn't pretty for me from a 15 roll, probably seven or eight cars to 75 where I let off (slight uphill takes a serious toll on a 117hp motor ). But from a dig he tried to launch hard and spun while I took off (if you can call it that). He didn't catch me until his shift to third where he walked past.

We'll race pretty much anything anytime if we can find a safe spot.

Anytime. The Fit backs down from no challenge.

(although it never wins...)

Try a 90 HP engine....and yes thats flywheel HP! 1990 Honda civic DX FTMFW. PGM FI.....basically hondas version of TBI. LOL, that thing is absolutely gutless but I get 37 mpg around town. Beat that newer cars!!

And to the OP, sorry to hear you failed miserably. I know where your coming from though. I sold my mustang and I get sudden urges to rev my engine in the honda at people for a race. I then realize I have 90 HP on tap and accept a loss in the making. Still sort of keeps you going though until summer time.

I think we should have a winter beater kill stories thread. Anyone agree? I had a kill in my dad's 05 Focus that I was pretty happy about

.......but seriously that was the worst kill story ever posted on tech.

That's why I miss my Integra GS-R... VERY quick for a car that averaged ~34mpg, and handled excellently.

Start a thread like the one I mentioned (winter beaters thread) and post that video.

I just got rid of my h3 hummer and it ran good for a 5 banger but only 13mpg around town. low 16's on a g tech and 4x4 for the snow. My ford ran 17.4 on the same g tech. I think i may add a coldair intake and call it quits. I get 32mpg at 70mph. I just have no power to kill. I didn't get killed,i got murdered bad. I thought his govenor would shut off and i could get him at 110mph......nope. Becides,i'll race any car i got...i'm a true racer.
Some of you guys give me a break.....the t.a is up for the whinter. i feel shame already..lol

Wow, ok. I am really thinking about starting a "beater" thread. No cars faster than 14.5!
