IMO it will take a decently modded ls1 to run with a 5.0 with any competent driver. A lid and catback car isn't going to legitimately beat a 5.0, but it might beat a 5.0's driver.

Decently modded to run in the high 12's @ 110-112?!? That's bolt on territory man.

I bought mine for 5000. With 68k on it. All I had to do was paint the passenger side rocker.

Look im an LS guy (obviously). I used to own and was very proud of my 99 SSCamaro. Had a bad hydroplane accident that ended its life with only 68k. Obviously i did not get a chance in that time (4 years ago) to race an unimagined 5.0 car. HOWEVER i raced lots of bolton LS cars and all sorts of crap. Im a car enthusiast thru n thru. Hell i just recently raced a 350+whp mid/upper 2000's honda civic SI. Honestly guys were saying he was close to 400. I dont know. I DO KNOW from a 40 to 140 sprint i only took him a car. What im getting at again is some of you LS1 guys in here seem a lil butt hurt at the fact ford got it right this time and its becoming painfully obvious that your simple bolton car just isnt going to be enough. Keep in mind fellas, this car is still new....I gotta hunch that these "supposed" kills on 5.0's with bare minimum mods will come to a hault this time around next year. For those that do legitamatley win. kudos to you. Bc its well built machine.....now for their tranny

Your car has a catback and free mods, and you haven't raced a 5.0 that has "even come close?" Right...

There is no reason to act like you're untouchable with a stock LS1 car, they are pretty strong runners for what they are, don't get me wrong, but let's not get too carried away here.

"Supporting mods" consist of springs and retainers/locks, rockers, rocker studs, headers, exhaust, intake etc. this easily adds up to over a grand maybe 2 depending on the parts you get.
I cant picture a proper cam only setup for under 500 bucks. Point is mods arent cheap when done right on any type of car.

And the way i see it, ls1s might be beating 5.0s left and right cus there are tons more modded ls1 than modded 5.0s. 2011s are still too new and chances are that you might be racing a stock or slightly modded 5.0. Yeah theres always the "stock" ls1 that walked a gt500 or im sure there a "stock" 3v gt that walked an ls1 over in the ford forums. We all know which car is faster than the other when stock so why try and fool each other?
Once mods kick in, the one who spends the most will most likely win.
Agreed as well.

Nice kill OP, sounds believable to me, maybe not for the 5.0l fanboys that are all over this section 24/7.

oohh sorry, I forgot, it cant be finally; when you have 5.0l, you always make perfect launch against gear/stalled/suspension LS1.

High 12's with shitty drivers sounds about right for a 5.0. Mid 12 with good drivers. And lower 12's with great drivers. And that is stock.

How much want to bet that they have went 12.2-12.3? Bet your car on it.

Both of them was ran up north. One was a manual(12.22@115) and one was a auto(12.37@114)

Those are really impressive times. What do they weigh compared to ls1 fbodys? Just curious. I'm glad the 11 gt is what it is, 2010 didn't run hard enough for the times IMO . But they were great cars, don't get me wrong, as far as overall performance and handling. I never thought I'd ever want a mustang, but teh 5.0 is the closest I've ever came to imagining it!

Both cars was base model cars. SO weight for both was right around 3600lbs.

I am arguing with a few people that are saying slicks/DR's are still stock car you just helping it hook. Cause one place is saying they have fastest "stock" Boss that ran 11.7. I said no cause you on slicks. SO it is not stock. My car was ran to a 12.1 on slicks that is not stock. Stock is way it came off the assembly line. Nothing else.

The stories here really are funny sometimes. People wanted me to run a full bolt on LS1 and I did. Beat it from a dig with him hooking me spinning by about 5 cars till 75 and I let out. From a 20 roll 5 cars by 80 I let out. He posted the story. Then it was run a cammed one. I did and beat him and out trapped him by 4mph. But then people swear that LS1's stock or with cold air and cat back are beating 5.0's with tons of mods or stock and everything else.
You know that LS1 with a Cold Air and cat back that beats a 5.0? It does exist. Here it is.

If you watch the video they say it's an auto 5.0, with 5,000 miles, bone stock. The WS6 is a 6spd manual, with CAI, and full cat-back.

In the final race with no passengers in either car the WS6 pulls on and beats the Mustang by about half a car.
