Chrysler wasted my gas

I've only had one set, this was back 5 years when they first came out, and were 275s on 17" wheels. It was on my Procharged Cobra with 3.73 gears at the time. It would lay black marks through 2nd gear every time. We got the car up on a lift and noticed the rubber was basically rolling/melting off the tire in the direction of forward. Shop told me maybe the tires were too soft. I dunno other than it just wouldn't hook. Only bad thing I have to say about Nitto is how small their sizes run. The 315/35/17 fits like a normal 275.

I'm really thinking about just saying the hell with it and getting some MT's. I just don't want to get them, drive them regularly, and then have to replace them in 4 months. I don't do burnouts and rarely go to the track. I want some tires that I can launch on hard off the line on the street but last a decent bit.

I tried 555R's. My star spec's EASILY outgripped them and that's when I had 20,000 miles on the star specs. The 555R's are on my front rims now lol.
I've also yet to have a ET Street equipped car do any more than stay with me on the street: and thats with a great driver.
If I hadn't just dropped all the dough on my motor build I'd do what I've done with other guys: offer up $100 towards the purchase price of a set of star specs. Hit me up in a month if you haven't decided and I'll do it. They are that good.
