I was at the local 1/8 mile track last night and I saw a blue SRT8. It was NOT the 392. Regardless it was a sweet looking car and it sounded awesome coming off the line. Best he could run last night was 9.29 @79mph in the 1/8. This was his best run all night but all his times were right around there.
Now if this was a 392, I am sure it would run harder than the 6.1L Hemi motor. I think if Chrysler would just trim some of the fat on the bodies, they would have one fast *** ride. The motors make a ton of power but the bodies are just to heavy.

I just dont get it guys are running 12.3@113-114 pretty consistently bone stock with the 392's in normal DA but it sure didnt pull like a 12.3 car but I could be wrong. I did a couple of 1-2-3 pulls and I just wasn't impressed. Then again it only had 10 miles on it so maybe because it wasnt broken in.

Me and a sales manager took one up to 140 and I thought it pulled pretty hard then again fastest car I've driven/rode in is my high 14 second truck so it's probably a lot different than going from your car to the 392 since they're closer in performance. After that we took the sms 570 challenger they have for a spin and that pulled even harder

The OP's friend bought the 392 charger SRT8, not just a regular SRT8. The 392 is a bored/stroked SRT8 with alot more power= I heard they dyno in the 430rwhp range bone stock. Also, OP's choice of camshafts leaves alot to be desired: the C5 Z06 cam is tiny, only marginally bigger then a stock LS1 cam.
Off the juice I dynoed 332/345 (about 25hp less than expected.) On a bit of the dope mine did 402/476...

"392" SRT8 is a regular SRT8, just a 2nd gen rather than a 1st gen. The 6.4 is a substantial improvement over the 6.1 in pretty much every way.
I've driven a '12 Charger SRT8. Definitely didn't "feel" like the 470+ hp car it is. It really didn't "feel" any quicker than my 13 second truck. But the thing is so smooth....there's no burst, it just keeps building. It's huge, and it's as much of luxo car as a performance car. It is REALLY nice. Gilles made it very clear they aren't trying to compete with the SSs or GTs, they're trying to build a niche vehicle. People can complain about the price, and if all you want to do is go fast there are obviously better options(aren't there always?) but as of now SRT has always been a money maker.
