and when someone says something like this car should pull that one from a roll yadda yadda yadda in reference to the powerband of a cam. They are completely missing the point that was trying to be made. It's ricer math.

Of course the if you start a roll from 5000 RPMs the car with too big of a cam is going to do better than a dig. That's not the point. The point is the cam is a piece of **** for anywhere except screaming RPMs.

M29Formula is cool and will race from a dig / roll whatever. In fact most of his races are from a dig. So I was not referring to him.

I am referring to those geniuses who base a cars performance solely on how it pulls from a roll. Which is the most narrow minded pathetic and ricer thing you can do.

A RWD V8 car is made to go from a dig. Thats why I can **** people off who trap higher than me. Sticky tires plus a stall jumps them out of the hole and they never catch me. Period.
Well, color me fucked. I can agree to that

N/A going from here to sea level is a huge gain.

Turbo going from here to sea level is a big gain.

Juice the fact that you're trying to pick apart what I said just proves you can't dispute it, because you have no experience.

What I originally said still stands, no matter how hard it is for you to comprehend. It's not as big of a gain as N/A but still a big gain.
The irony of the situation must be explained to you since you obviously won't get it...

You're telling me I have no experience and I'm 100% wrong. However if you knew anything about turbo Cobalts, you would know their computer compensates for DA to make the same power all the time. Whether it be +7000DA or -3500DA. The boost will be manipulated by the computer to achieve a predetermined level of power.

So I guess you can re-read your statement towards me in the mirror.

Have a nice day!

Its obvious you still don't get it. What you say sounds good on paper but it's simply not true.

You obviously don't have a clue about the difference between volume and pressure, or boost and CFM.

Every car with modern EFI "compensates" to some degree for altitude, that doesn't mean it can change physics.

Long story short, it's still going to run faster at lower altitude. I'm sorry that the truth is different than someones conjecture you read somewhere on a forum.

Like I said, no experience just a parrot.

Except... it only compensates to a point. If I drive up Pike's Peak down in Colorado to 10,000+ feet, my Cobalt is not going to up the boost to 30+ psi and change timing so I make 290hp/320ftlbs.

It WILL NOT make the same power at 10,000ft as it will at sea level, period.

It doesn't make the same power at 6000ft as it sits now as it would at sea level. I'm lucky because currently my mods actually add power since the ECM is maxxed out on allowable parameters trying to make sea level power at 6000ft altitude. Anything I do to make it more efficient actually adds power because the "learn down" feature actually "learns up".

The GM Stage 1 tune at this altitude spikes 25psi and holds around 23psi until it tapers off bad around 5000rpm down to about 18psi or so.

Bone stock record at ~sea level:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30UxICiLlss

I'm confident that my Cobalt would be probably a 13.0-13.3 car at sea level and would probably trap around 107-109.

The current GM Stage 1 trap speed record is 110mph with mild bolt ons.

My bolton LS1 trapped 112...cammed LS1s will trap 115+ easy...you're not running away from him. But you aren't at sea level so that talk doesn't matter.
