My friend has a new 5.0. You'll win depending on your gears and tires, if mostly stock.

Post some vids and get back to us with the results so we can make excuses as to why you lost.

my ss put down 440 at the wheels and I ran a new 5.0 he put down 445 on,the same dyno and I won the first 2 races but the 3rd he won with a 100 shot to prove a point lol

 

if he made 420 he has intake and tune as well maybe a midpipe. Car should be good for 115mph though.

 

His car is pretty quick!

 

Friend broke an axle in his 12 bolt on them. Put the old 10 bolt back in his Chevelle and ran a 1.6 60ft with them.

They aren't nearly as bad as everyone makes them out to be. So far I have got the same 60ft on them as on the M/T ET radials.

 

I'll say that IF the 5.0 has just a catback it should be a good race with you pulling it out in the end I think especially if you go from a roll seeing as the 5.0's gearing really favors a DIG race. If he really has 420 to the tires he's got you no question. But also if he has that much he has much more than just a catback, more like a tune, intake and full exhaust..... SO either he's lying, severely about the numbers or he has many more mods than what he says. Either way race and find out.

 

Gonna run him this weekend, fri or sat, Ill get as many vids as I can.. I have a 4.10 and he has stock 3.30 somethings. My tires are Nitto 555s, 275 40, 17x9.. I know he has 20"s, no clue on tires

 

420whp from a cat back??? I call BS! He must have went to a happy dyno.

 

From my experience with the 5.0, I really like the fact you have bolt on's and 4.10's. I have said in my previous threads I LIKE THE NEW 5.0, however I think you will win this race.

 

420whp makes me think of the guy on S197 saying he gained 32whp from a cat back. A Borla cat back. Every one is just starting to rip this guy.

With your mods and if he has only a cat back you shoudl win. Guess is he will blow the tires on the launch. And those 20" rims are not helping him at all.

 

440 GM hp > 445 Ford hp

Just goes to show you that GM has something extra in it's hp that dyno's can't detect

My dad has those tires on his s/c gt and they don't hook worth a crap on this car. My brother has M/T ET radials and they hook alot better. Have you used both tires? Just saying, who knows your frined could put et streets on and run a 1.5 60ft.

 

I said this before and i will say again..... an f body with 400 hp can usuly out run a stang with 500 hp dont know why..... its just the way it is... a lot of fourth gen guys know what im talking about. i had a car that made 405 wheel and would outrun pullied and apton or aptin ported cobras 03-04. on the street or the track. It would run away from em. It was an auto tho
