Default What's so challenging about a Challenger? Cross off yet another Dodge

Coming home I get off the interstate onto 290 and I notice some long rectangle headlights ahead. Looked like 67ish Shelby GT500. I get up closer and see its a Challenger (not the new new ones). Getting up closer I notice it's a V8. Well yet again at the same redlight we line up, but turning left...him in the inside lane. I pull up and notice the nice big 5 spoke stockers. It was orange with black RT stripes. Well not knowing if he wants to play or not the light turns green and I take the turn kinda fast, so does he. I rev out 2nd alittle and he keeps up. I shift to 3rd @ 3/4 throttle and give it alittle blip. He fell back about a car then I heard his car downshift and he roared up along side me. By the time I downshifted he had a carlength on me. I downshift back into 3rd and stop his pull, hit 4th and he hit the brakes at me at his bumper. Now I know it's on!!!!

We get a stretch of black highway ahead and I downshift into 3rd with him at my bumper. He gets along side me and I downshift into 2nd. We are at a 40 roll and he punches it and so do I. I start a steady pull and hit 3rd and put a carlength on him and he lets out. Had I hit 4th it would have been a steady bus length pulls. We BARELY missed a great redlight which is perfect for dig runs. Now that would have been hilarious! Oh well, chalk up another Dodge kill for the Mach 1!!!!!!

Looking on Challengerforums.com I see the Challenger is nothing impressive. Looks like I went puppy kicking with the 5.7L Challenger.

Yea, it's not as bad now...atleast I could take my anger out on some Dodge owner. Now he's home posting on Challengerforums probably asking how a white GT with a scoop and a stripe pulled him so hard.

I ran one in reverse, so I could get a better look at beating him.

Good kill, Stoppy jr would be proud.

Good kill! I had wanted to run an RT when my G8 was stock, but now I'd like to run into an SRT-8. I'm sure the new ones would put a hurting on me, but the 425 hp/6-speed version should be a good race.

I ran a red/black newer one once, the hemi vrrsion with the hood scoops, sounded like it ran 9s on motor. Didnt.30 punch on open hiway. Yawn. Wasnt even close. I was in my ss, it was also travelling with a 2 of the newer chargers, only the challenger stepped up and after the run. It stand down. I thought it was gonna give me a good run. Meh, I put a few busses on him.

I am still yet to run a Challenger of any kind in the SS. I did dust an R/T pretty bad when they came out in my bolt-on LT1.
