Default Any race stories against a Typhoon or Syclone?

I'm new to the board and I was wondering if anyone has had some run in's with a Syclone or Typhoon? You probably already figured out by my screen name that I have a Typhoon.

Is that sarcasm or ignorance? Hard to tell in words. hopefully sarcasm. In a way they are the old versions of the xtremes. But they have the ***** to back it up, unlike the xtremes

I never really do take it seriously but as 68maro said, i hear it all the time. My Ty is White/white, but it's a work in progress, haven't done much, yet . It's hard to find good stories about em. But it's always funny to see them on other sites.

I got whooped by a Syclone in my old 95 Z28. We went from a dig. I got beat pretty bad to about 70. Maybe 2-3 carlengths. He launched hard, and i never caught him. I was pretty embarassed, lol. Then when i got home i checked the net for info on them. Needless to say i felt better after doing some research about those trucks!

Have you guys not seen the vid of the race between Clint Pohlers 2jz-gte Lexus and a Syclone? Good race but i think the import won. They were both making in excess of 700hp. Look for it on Kazaa.

The GMC Syclone and Typhoon shared the same basic powerplant. It displaced 4.3 liters and was turbocharged. They also shared the same intercooling system, which was air-water/coolant. They also shared the same basic platform, being AWD. At the time, and I believe to this date, the Syclone holds the title for the quickest factory production truck of all time. Correct me if I'm wrong. (Note I didn't say fastest...just quickest).

I believe the Typhoon is still the quickest production SUV as well. Maybe that's changed with Porche's new SUV.

The Syclone and Typhoon were brand new when I was a teenager. I wish I had the money back then to have gotten my hands on a new one.

yes the syclone and the typhoon are still the quickest truck and SUV...i think, i need to talk to my friend, former owner of a white/white typhoon...but they are the quickest just not the fastest cause after about 80 MPH if they are stock its just basically a flying brick, cause the aerodynamics play too much of a factor, I am currently in the process of finding one here in Florida, hard to find a Sy, in good condition now adays.

I'm a member of SyTy.net They have some hillarious kill stories. I don't think the Syclone is the quickest truck anymore becasue of the SRT-10. It's kinda funny how it took a $50K truck to beat one thats 12 years old and can be had for $12K. Don't have pics yet of mine. Hoping to get some with Ryan23Silverado's truck soon. He's a good friend of mine. The Ty is still in bad shape.

I believe that the twin turbo porsche cayanne is faster it runs like a 13 however notice how it costs 90,000 dollars and good old american muscle can accomplish the same speed for like lets say hmmm 30,000 in the form of a camaro ss maybe , funny how that works out.
