I don't know...that's a hard choice. A super heavy, boat of a car with a great powertrain or a lighter jap turbo 4 banger with a great power train that's a bit more complicated. Tough choice I'd say...

Yeah such a great power train that 90% of them that make power blow up and they are also astronomically expensive to make sick power.

You can literally buy an ECS novi supercharger for the 5th gen (ONLY SUPERCHARGER) for 6k and be 6xx rwhp. That's 6k to get a v8 reliably to 6xx rwhp.

Show me a 6xx whp evo that costs 6k. Hell I raced a 6xx whp Evo and he blew his ******* transmission on the run.

These things are true. I have considered both cars as replacements for what I have, but neither could get me to move due to the downsides of both. I rented an SS for a weekend and I just hated the weight and the cocoon-like feeling of driving it. I felt like it needed a couple hundred more horses at least just to move the thing. Very do-able, but still...meh. I've been in evos and they feel slow unless they have a big turbo...then come all the clutch, transfer case and drivetrain issues as well as the cost to get there.

Plus, I'm a cheap b&^%$#@

lol.

By switching down to 17 inch rims and going open headers you literally lose 200 lbs.

600rwhp at 3600lbs with the torque of these SS is pretty damn good if you ask me.

to answer the title of the thread.....NO

There aren't any fast ones where I live. There is apparently a pretty nasty 350Z (I know, LOL) that runs door to door with a brand new GT-R about 45 south of me that I want to line up with this summer. Other than that, just a couple modded Evos around town that I'll take care of this summer.

If you're gazing fast off a new GT-R then you hang with slow *** people.

The people I race with run 10 second daily drivers. There's nothing slow about a new GT-R. They run well. I was merely using it to give you an idea of what the 350Z could do. A 350Z that hangs door to door with a brand new GT-R has some serious work done. I'm running a stock heads/intake LT1 so I'm automatically slow on this site. Although, I did just start putting my car back together, and I'd wager I will have no problem dragging both of your vehicles down the 1/4 kicking and screaming.

Clearly you know much more on 5th gens than anyone who actually has one and is in the process of weight reduction.

Dont you love it when people argue with you about your own ******* car? Seriously dude, i put lt`s and full exhaust on my GTO, and i lost about 30lbs. With him saying manifold/header only with the rest of the exhaust gone, i can totally believe that. Each wheel im sure is heavy as ****, so you probly losing 15-20 lbs a wheel? Im assuming you have ultra light 17`s or stock from another car? If your running light weight race wheels your probly @ like 30lbs a wheel...

I'm dropping down to 17" weld RT-S.

Right now my 21" you gotta use your ******* back to pick them up. They weight a **** ton. My x pipe, cats, mufflers weigh another **** ton.

I am going to drop 200lbs easy as ****. Don't really care what the talon kid thinks. I know my car and know I'm going to drop a **** ton of weight with 2 easy mods.

Sorry, I misread your post...didn't realize you were removing your entire exhaust system.

Won't that be a bit annoying? I could barely stand the drone of my full 3", so I switched to a cutout and stock catback.

I can show you a 632whp Camaro that runs 12's and a time slip from a 346whp Evo that ran 11's. Close enough?

A 600 whp Evo would **** up a 600 whp 5th Gen up bad. Only fast 5th gen I've ever seen was the Lingenfelter shop car and it broke. 5th gens are gay.

Don't tell this 6xxwhp evo that.

Seems like my 5th gen ain't that gay.

On the next run he blew up his transmission. Like I said typical evo that makes power... boom boom.

Maybe because the 5th gen is only what...3 years old? Not very easy to get full weight 5th gen into the 8s. But this season there are a couple guys aiming for it that will get there...

Vengeance procharger car is already running 9.3 and has a ton of boost left over.
And some TT 5th gens are already trapping north of 150.

None of these are stripped. Going to see at least 3-4 5th gens hit 8s this year.

There is a daily driven Evo around here making well over 800, they're actually fairly reliable.

When I say not fast I mean I've seen countless boosted, nitrous, h/c 5th gens struggling to go 11s.
