I had an 06 duramax. Cool truck... Everyone always tried convincing me to mod it, but I had absolutely no intentions of doing so.

Diesels are amazing vehicles. There are a ton of quick ones running around.

Diesels are slow, they've swapped them into lighter chassis. They have failed to impress. Id rather build a gas engine any day. Having said that, people only think diesel trucks are fast on the street until you put them next to a car that can hook on the street. The truck in the op probably isn't an 11 second truck.

Woah!!! Hang on!

There are plenty of fast ones out there. Sure, they might be slow stock.. But it really doesn't take much to compete with many other cars out there. You could then argue that stockish LS1's are slow then. Or bolt-on pre-'11 GT's are turds too.

Hell I want one, toss a good tune and exhaust on it and make 200 torque more then stock. lol

Wish my gas cars got those kinda results from simple mods...

Gains are even better than just that depending on the truck. Trucks aren't the best racing platforms, but hell for a couple grand you could break into the 12's easy enough and still have a work duty truck.

I wouldn't expect anyone to argue otherwise on that one

I mean they're slow compared to similar powered gas engines, I'm aware that there are 7,8 and 9 second diesel vehicles out there.

Hell, maybe I'll get one for the wife then. She always did like big vehicles, growing up driving a 15 passenger van. lol

Same kind of idiots talk about how fast their F-body and ricers are too.

You should probably visit a diesel forum... there are MANY fast trucks out there that you don't know about.

Its all about vehicle enthusiasts... there are plenty of NICE trucks out there that can put a hurting on your car too and leave in their truck on their own 4 tires and go pull a 12,000 pound trailer with 6 people inside the truck.

No thanks.

I know they are out there, doesn't mean they interest me. Quickest I've seen in person was an 11 second truck and he spent a fortune making it do that and was a cocky son of a bitch about it.

My previous post above was referring to the idiots who think their bully dog and stacks make them king of the road. They are ricers, doing stupid **** in parking lots and trying to race anything with 4 wheels. Come down to redneck land and you will see what I mean. Everyone online talks like there's a 10 second diesel or Civic daily driver around every corner.

And for what it's worth, I don't trailer my car unless I've done something wrong haha

It's all about how much an enthusiast is willing to spend, and whether or not they do their homework.

Give me enough money and I'll make a hatchback civic wax 90% of the cars in SRK.

LoL I totally agree with this statement. There's a ton of diesel truck nut swinging kids in my town that think the nice new cummins there mommy and daddy bought them with a 5" stack and tuner will rape everything. Then you tell them there are idiots and they say "well if you put the engine in a car chasis....". Ok if it were such a good platform for going fast where are all these fast *** diesel swapped cars on the street and not on YouTube in a tube chassis car?

And the whole HP vs torque thing is retarded. Horsepower is a mathematical calculation yes, but it means something. You can make 1000 ft-lbs at 1000rpm but where does that get you? A generator sitting outside of a building making electricity.

It goes for any car. I see fbodies with only a loudmouth exhaust act like they are the John Force of the streets.

I like the duramax but the fastest 1 I've run up against ran 10.89. That's fast for a heavy truck but they look tiny in my rear view mirror.

I think the "secret" of fast diesels is out. I've got no hate towards a strong running diesel, I just wouldn't choose to build one. Its cool to hear the turbo spool and boost build prior to launch though, no doubt.

about a car or 2 ahead of you from a dig

mine certainly is not the fastest one out there. it's a high 12 sec truck, but is also my DD. it's also my tow rig so I can pull around 14K without breaking a sweat while my whole family is comfortable watching movies in the backseat.

imo, fast is fast, power is power, no matter what form it's in.
