Default v4 turbo Chevy Cruze vs a V4 Mustang

Yep. You read it right.

I know this isn't as amazing as much people would want to hear about, but sorry!

Rolled up to a red light, and a mustang comes flying towards me, stops short for the light. I look over and there's a 20-something year old driving.

Light goes green, and he and I both take off. As we're racing I'm thinking "wow, I'm keeping up. He must be a shitty driver or my car has nos in it." By the time I hit 3rd he was a car back. Waited for him at the next light to be sure it wasn't sheer luck, and we went again. Same outcome.

So at the 3rd red light, I roll down my window and ask him what he's running. His exact response?
"Oh well I'm trying to save money, so I ripped the v8 and turbos out and put a v4 in."

I'm still really confused. I usually get killed, but this was just... unusual.

For those who want to know, my car is stock with a turbo, runs around 150 fwhp.

It still blows my mind. I mean thats like having a beautiful girlfriend but never being able to kiss her, you don't know her full potential. My car certainly isn't fast, yes it has a kick, but it's not a fast car. When I come up next to a mustang I wouldn't expect to win without a 30 mph lead in a 0-60.

With that said, I don't race to win (albeit I LOVE winning against pretty cars), I race to enjoy the speed other cars have to offer. I'm certainly no ricer.

But, don't hate. I'm getting a honda prelude and supeing it up to around 650 hp ^^

Your story has so many flaws I call bs. For one, not even a mustang owner is that stupid, and second your car has an I4. Please educate yourself so you don't come off sounding stupid

You're right about the I4, I mis-typed that when I wrote this up, it was a mistake.

And you'd be amazed, apparently. If this hadn't happened then yeah, I'd be calling BS as well. But it did, so needless to say I wanted to tell you guys about it.

I'm getting it at a good deal, and it's a nice project to work on. Is there something wrong with wanting to create a fast car on a budget? It's more of a learning experience, if anything.

Those v4 stangs aren't as fast as the v5's, but still fast. I need a v3 to save some gas.

If you think that you can get a Prelude to 650hp on a budget, you are definately in for a learning experience.

I have an idea... Let's join a random LS site and make sure everyone thinks were an idiot in our first post. If we're not 100% sure they know after than one, we'll add another... YEA for us...

If you're talking about building a Prelude, and you own a Cruze, why are you on this forum?
If you really want to troll, go to a Mustang forum.

OP, how the hell are you going to be able to sup up a vtec when you don't even know your car has an i4, not a v4? Also the cruze puts out about 138 crank horsepower. You are not making 150fwhp stock. More like 125fwhp on a happy dyno. Probably less on a normal dyno

The mustang was prolly toying with him lol, the mustang kept it in 1rst and stood behind the OP laughing both times and plus we all know how fast a cruze can be !
