Was impressed by the 5th gen. The T/a was in need of tire that why i had the car. It has a new set of nitto 555's on it now. When racing phil had to take off real easy and couldn't power shift until third. second race, I tried to launch a littler hard which was a fail and i was beeping us off each time. Tires makes a big differance. Have to do it again now. Always fun, and this 5th gen runs good. I'll try and steal the car again when your back up Phil.

Those tires should help a ton! You know im always willing to give it a go. Be nice if we could take them to Dixon next time. Not much into the risk taking anymore hahaha I got 5 good points for the first time in my life! After being negative 21 with the ws6 I've become a bit more cautios these days.

I've died and went to heaven. Been banned from Camaro5 twice and just got into it with a moderator on Modern Camaro for posting that there is nothing wrong with street racing if you take some precautions and do it safe.
I'm never going back, I might go back just to get banned.
This site rocks

An almost stock 4th gen will get whooped in a 1/4 mile contest with a 5th gen, is this really a suprise? 1/4 mile times have as much to do with track prep and DA as driver abillity.
I drove the crap out of my wifes 2000 T/A @ Bremerton and could do no better than a 13.4 @ 107.? MPH. The stock Hurst shifter was a POS, no lift shifted 1-2nd, but 3 - 4th was impossible unless granny shifting. I ran the car back to back 6 times after being elimanated from the bracket race becuase of the shitty shifter. Cut a .001 light, no lift shifted 2nd then stuck the shifter going into 3rd. Best 60' times on the stock rubber was 1.89.
The guys got into the twelves with a bone stock 4th gen benifited from a great DA and track prep. They also had a better shifter. 4th gens are failry quick stock, but are outgunned nowadays.

I see a lot of 4th gens trap for 12s stock(ish) but are nowhere near it etwise. My car went 8.29 @ 87.9 in the 1/8 with a lid and weld in 80 series fm. 2k' da that day. The car trapped 111 a few times Before with an 85/6 1/8 mph. ive seen quite a few lid only cars go 108, I dont see why its impossible for stock airbox cars to go 108+.
5th gens are what they are and most likely driver dependent (like every other car) as far as performance goes. stockish On average id say theyre faster than 4th gens, after headers for sure. My 4th gen runs hard, moreso than the 5th gens ive raced...but thats only because I havent found a car w a driver.

I dont think its a real surprise that 5th gens are a little quicker than stock 4th gens... From what I've seen down here in fl 5th gens generally trap 109-110 ish while m6 fbods are around 107 so a 2-3mph difference isnt huge but it def gives an advantage to a 5th gen however throw a couple small mods (catback, free mods) on the 4th gen and they're door to door. I personally think the T/A should have done better here in this race but **** happens. Lol i think thats a fair understandment on how the two cars match up.
