Default Me vs the LS1

Ok guys ill cut to the chase. A kid where i go to school just bought a stock base model 98 trans am a4 to try and 1up me. He is a pretty big kid, +300 lbs. plus he is a "gangsta" so I'm gonna say his added weight to the car from stereo would be a total of 400 lbs assuming there is no passsenger. Does Transamula have any chance? 94 gt M6, Ram air, cat-back and little ol' 150 lb me. Any suggestions? Where is the A4's "dead zone" that i've heard so much about? the race would most likely be from a dig, but perhaps i could pull some jedi mind tricks and get him to run from the dead zone roll unfortuantely if it happens, i most likely wont be able to tape since it will probably be spontaneous . I think it will be a good race regardless

thanks in advance

You must be the only guy on this site who refers to his car by name.
My guess would be run him from a slow roll. A4 guys chime in.

totally. if he's got 3.23:1 gears in back, 30-40mph is a killer dead zone. don't go near him around 25mph or 65mph.

400lbs of stereo is a whole hell of a lot of stereo. what the hell is he putting in there? 6 15" subs with cones made of steel???

Should be close...I think he might get you unless you can convince him to go from the 40 MPH dead spot...I think it might be a good run then...run him tell us what happens...

Transmula if he really is a base model then he may have 2.73 gears and not 3.23's so in that case you can run him from a dig and take him. Trust me 2.73 gears are horrible from a dig but they pretty good above a 50 roll.

To clear things up, as the owner of a Trans Am gt. The Trans Am GT did not necessarily come with raised wing, mine in fact does not have it. The GT is the WS6 before they called it the WS6 in a fourth Gen. It has the suspension package identical to the other fourth gen WS6's it just wasn't called a WS6. It was only made in '94 and has the Ram Air hood+ Ram air setup. I'll have to take some new pictures since the ones I have are HUGE files and not the best quality, but if you have the time to download them, be my guest I'll post some here...

BTW don't mind the paintjob, the guy who owned her before was a raging portugese man (not to be racist) and he had the full rice effect on her glow in the dark pedals, jerry rigged speakers, huge key scratches and dents. I've since cleaned her up and restored her to her former beauty. (I hated the colors at first too, but trust me, they grow on you)

Transamula, one of the rare GT models, BTW the oil in the foreground is from mom's rx-8

Let us know what happens. IMO you have is keep your rpm around 3000 in first gear and have him do the three honks (preferably have him take a friend along to honk for him....added weight). Hopefully he will be at low rpm in second gear and you can pull him out of the hole, because I don't think you will pull him on top.

Try it and report back, good luck,

later,
Bart

It was still an option all the way through 96

Hit him on the freeway and he will most likely go doen no matter what RPM you start at as long as you take it up close to 100mph.

Back when I ran 12.8@109mph in my auto T/A I would always try and race my buddy in his 95 Z28 M6 with just a cold air and exhaust and he would leave me hard every single time! I had a 3800 stall at the time too A4 vs M6 is a no brainer on the freeway.

Just don't let him talk you into a dead stop race unless you can launch really well.

What does that mean? There are plenty of people who have no clue what a WS6 is, but that has nothing to do with it's existence ... you just don't know as much about the F-bod past as you thought.
