Actually timeslips dont always tell the full story. One car can take off harder and carry that momentum the other car can come on later and they still run the same times. that would be 2 completely different cars in a street race. Gearing, traction and a good enough rear to leave on it can affect et and mph.

i always stage first.....i pre-stage, then wait for the other guy...soonz he hits the pre-stage beam, i inch forward till i light the stage light......then everything else disappears except for that tree.
i pull into the burnout box, blip the throttle to wet the tires, pull forward, and set the linelocks. soon as i see him wet them, i hit it.....a 2 gear burnout, till i feel it bog a little, then let off the linelock. reverse, make sure i'm in the groove, pull forward, light the first light. then i wait. this goof's doing a second burnout.
i look over, see how much of a pos that thing REALLY looked like, and thought "c'mon dude....stop ******* around, pull up, and take your ******* beating." i see him purge the nitrous, and i almost started to laugh at him, figuring he was doing all that crap and only gonna run a mid 12 or something.
he finally pulls into the beam, i inch forward, and set the transbrake. at the flicker of the yellow, i'm firewalled, and off the brake.....tree comes down, the last yellow's still lit, and i'm being forced back in the seat....it was a 00-something light. engine sounds about right, i reach for the shifter, pull second, just as the shift light flickers....midway through second gear, i'm looking for him, but don't see him. i pull third gear, glance around, and there he is, running me down.
i had a slow run on that one....and i knew it was a bad run, because the shift light wasn't flickering in the traps like normal....went in the 10.3 range, and took the win light. he ran a 10 flat, and was still nearly a full car behind me.
guess someone was napping.
based on that, i'll almost agree with ya. almost, only because the timeslips really don't lie. that guy had a WAY faster car that night than i did. he fucked up, but still really had the bragging rights, because he was so much quicker.
if you and i ran, and you beat me by say.....a foot.....that's an argument that's gonna go on forever. but at the track, that foot's gonna show in the numbers...which i'm sure you already know. and yes i have lost by that much. probably less. it's frustrating.....but still the most fun kind of run there is.
