Default C5Z vs Novi 2000 2v

Close friend of mine is getting retuned soon, so we decided so benchmark it against my bolt on z.

His car is a full bolt on, stock motor w/ a paxton novi 2000 @ 8-10psi from a 40 roll....

Little 2V just ran out of steam. Some 2v cars run their *** off but they are few and far between.

His setup isn't really optimized, which is why we are going to re tuning it. He's shifting it at like 5800 and running like 16* of timing or something dumb like that. It should be faster at the end of the week sometime...Ill post of videos of the re race

Ha the responses and general consensus that modding a 2v is a "waste of money" really makes me want to buy one and make it stupid fast just to surprise some people

That that ive really looked but ive yet to see a "stupid fast" 2v. Whats some world records for these cars? What about the engine itself? What kinda power is it capable of?

Not worth owning or modifying IMO, local guy has a forged 2v with a D1SC on 14psi (i think) the cars a solid mid 12 second car. LOL. When he was on lower psi he ran door to door with an ALL motor RSX-S that made low low 300s. Cars are turds.

I've kind of wondered the same myself. I knew my old LT1 gave a lot of the 2V's modded more than me problems but I've never owned one so haven't really cared to look up too much about them in all honesty

Nice op, that was a rape!

Now as far as 2valves, i have seen some nasty ones but like stated before they are far and few in between. I personally used to have one and it put up a a good run vs several quick cars including a pullied cobra and a c5z06 with exhaust its on video too.

I have a buddy with a 2v that would wax you any day of the week. Hell, you could add a 100 shot and you'd still get waxed.

He could.....with just bolt-ons? I'm sure it was bad. ......bad like a fully built huge turbo overkill to make those turds move type of bad. I have yet to see a 2v run anykind of respectable time unless it's one of these record cars some of these guys post. To be honest I could care less about those.

Won't a 2v spit it's guts out at less than 450whp?

The bottom ends are only good for around 400-450 whp. It's hyper pistons powdered metal rods and a cast crank that hates a lot of rpm. The 2v heads are really bad as far as flow as well.

Me too, only I would use a 96-98 body style to really tweak some nipples.

GT500 motor swap, bolt-ons, faceplated transmission, and some weight reduction...

2V's can be pretty stout if set up correctly but when compared to LSx motors... well they have a breathing disadvantage lol. A decent flowing intercooler, power pipe, smaller pulley (10-11 lbs) plus a great tune would give him a decent power boost while still being safe on the stock bottom end. That should make him more competition for you lol

Kinda defeats the purpose of this argument.

That's like responding to a comment that third gen camaros are slow turds by putting a ls9 in one.

EDIT: my bad, I get the joke now

Thanks! Ti bypass mod FTW lol

As far as the 2v's go, we are seeing the stock internals take a **** at ~6500...so he won't be going much over 6k...which will still be at least 200rpm higher than now. He doesnt plan on being able to beat me after the tune or anything, just more of a friendly benchmark to see gains.
