Nelson Racing Vs. UGR
#21
Where do you live? Maybe the place who did your heads installed the turbo kit. Maybe there isn't a UGR shop close enough. Maybe the block decided to let go from too much power (since the newer SRT-10's do not have forged internals) and it's at that specific shop because they know Vipers.

I'm in AL so I'm guessing that there isn't a UGR shop near me. I personally am not sure it WAS a UGR Viper its only what the people that worked at the shop told me. It was twin turbo and I don't know what caused the rod knock.

maybe the owner couldnt afford to go back to ugr...thats a possibility

**** happens when you mod a car. Nothing is "bullet proof". I could walk into a shop and tell them to bump my nitrous up to a 500 shot... Even the best LSX shop out there, but when it blows up, is it the shops fault? Or mine for telling them to do it?
You don't know the whole background on the situation, so instead of bad mouthing a very reputable shop, how about you get your facts together first... And then post. You don't know what's wrong with the car and why it's not back at UGR.

Big birdLS1(Matt?), hey man good to hear from a fellow Culver customer, lol. I'm from the area and I'm at Lane's shop ALL the time. I saw the UGR Viper you're talking about. From what I could gather, the rod knock was because the guy had been driving it around whit the bottom end making a noise for a while and it finally let go. Not a UGR problem if hes on one of the lower boost kits. As UGR does't touch the rotating assembly unless you get upin the high hp kits.
Also, to my knowledge, UGR NEVER had the standing mile record. Before the Hennessy GT got it this last time, there was a shop called perfromance power that had a TT GT. They had the record at like 253mph. Before that it was SW's Black Supra at 246mph

Yeah that was me. For the record I never meant to throw UGR under the bus. All I meant was UGR built it and it has a rod knocking that was all I knew. I thought that it was a "shop" car and they didn't want or could fix it so they sent here. I had no idea that it was a customer car that UGR built and of course UGR has no control over what happens to it after the customer picks it up and no control where they take it to be fixed. I meant no harm I apologize.
I will say this that Viper is in good hands up at Lane's.
BTW Slo1SS is this Monte? I'm betting you are.

UGR has the technology needed to win I think. I know Nelson racing has built hundreds of drag cars. But that's it. Drag cars. A standing mile car is built a little differently than a 1/4 mile car. UGR Specifically built these from the getgo to destroy the mile. They have a lot more experience in the mile. I'd say UGR would get the kill.

They did. UGR has gone a best of 250.1 in spring 2010 and the LMR Camaro went 253.
In 2009 it was SW's Supra with a 246.2. 2010 UGR beat that with the 250.1 and the Ford GT following very closely behind with a 249.1.
Which is true. I wouldn't be surprised if UGR comes back this year with some serious heat. Also the Supra club isn't too far behind and once AMS gets a good enough gear set the GTR will be a monster.

Just wait til the Dagger GT comes, if anyone buys it Im sure it will eventually get around to racing some TT Gallardos and smoking them. 632ci TT, your choice of 2000-2700hp, weighs in at around 2500lbs, oh yeah and NRE built the engine.
