Ya a more than slight advantage to the Shelby for sure. Zl1 should have been bumped up more than what it was imo.

all i care about is what these cars do with tracks that have corners to them.... you could save a fortune and buy the normal v8 versions and mod if you want to drag only.

LIQIDVENOM...that's very true...just talking bragging rights is all...i do not believe that the shelby can beat a boss 302 laguna at the track and a ZL1 has already beaten the 302...so i'm sure handling wise and braking should go the ZL1's way...not sure about anything else though...after all, the ZL1 did stay very close handling wise to a new GTR...

ODDWRAITH..you're right about that, cannot understand why chevy couldn't give it more power, even if it came near the ZR1, it still wouldn't beat it weight wise...i guess GM was worried that they would lose corvette buyers to a car half it's price and nearly as quick...

They need to work out their target buyers...the target buyers for the zl1 would not be the same folks buying Corvettes in most scenarios imo.

one thing that ****'s me off about GM is that they do not advertise there cars like ford does...and as THEBLACKNIGHTLS1 said, they didn't think ford would make these faster cars...true, they don't think is the damn problem...let's ask ourselves a question...wouldn't we all feel a bit better if it were the ZL1 making 662hp and not the shelby ????...there was a time that you referred to chevy as the car maker that made more HP then any other in this country...yeah, that was a long time ago.

ODDWRAITH...you're very right about target buyer's...but if there ''target'' buyers are between 25-49, how the hell do you explain to the buyer that the ford across the street will more then likely smoke his *** ????...put DR's on both and the ford will win everytime...mainly due to that I.R.S. and that it actually weigh's more then a GTR !!!...sucks i know.

We all know that Chevy has detuned the Camaro's for years... if they push the envelope it will cause them to spend more money on the R&D for the Vette's to keep them out in front. Ford for as long as i can remember has only made one performance car being the Mustang... Chevy had several thru the years... the chevelle, malibu, nova, and camaro where all knocked down as to not out perform the Vette. But Ford has had the Mustang on top of there line... let Shelby play with it, lil Saleen action and the Roush version... All the top of there class to compete with the Vette... When Chevy gets there head out of their exhaust the ZL1 with eat the GT500 for breakfast and push the hell out of a Z06 but still bow down to the ZR1... Nissan did it years ago with the 300ZX twin turbo killing everything in production including the Mustangs and Vettes but politely taking it in the rear from the Skylines...

I would rather have the sports coupe which is faster around a track....which can take turns all day. the z06 is faster around many tracks then its competitors which have more hp.

the 2012 Z06 actually out pulled the ZR1 on most tracks with the cup tires, according to road&track...the 2012 ZO6 pulled a 1.06g vs the ZR1's 1.04...not much i know but a win is a win.also , it went around there slalom at 74.9mph...the ZR1 was not ranked in the top 5 as the Z06 was.

NOLAG05...when did the nissan 300zx twin turbo beat the corvette or kill it as you claimed ???..the 90's version of the LT1 'vette outperformed it at everything, including the 1/4 mile...actually the twin turbo supra was quicker then the nissan...in the september 1993 issue of car & driver the 'vette ran a 14.00@103mph vs the nissan at 14.20@101mph vs mazda rx7 at 14.00@103mph vs 3000gt vr4 at 14.1@99mph...the supra was a 13.8@106mph...not sure where the kill is...it lost, and we all know that a LT1 'vette ran a better time then 14.00, 13.60 was more like it...not trying to start anything between us, just asking...not big on the 300zx's is all....and you're right about chevy holding back the camaro, pontiac did the same back in the late 60's and early 70's...i should know...lololol...they actually put a screw in the 4-barrel carb.on the '69 and 70 trans-am, holding it to a rating of 345hp for the ram air iv 400 vs the gto's 370 claim...just un-screw the nut and presto and instant 25 more ponies...again, i really should know as i was there watching it being done...lololol

Not talking track numbers, or stock... street racing. Sorry i didn't hit the legal tracks back then...lol. Intake, exhaust, upgraded intercoolers on my Z in high school pretty much killed every camaro, mustang, firebird, and vette i raced at home on the street. The tt supra online beat the Z in a straight line. SCCA tested the supra vs the Z and thats the only place it could compete. Now today the 300zx tt is a dieing breed but still dangerous car when done right. We still go down to Z nationals in Atlanta every year and hit the tail of the dragon... Only car i will push on the dragon other than my subie...lol.

NOLAG05...i was talking stock vs stock, or that is i thought that was what you were saying..lolol...loved s.c.c.a...some people though didn't..sad i know...the dragon is a dangerous thing...this i know. talked my boss out of taking his '07 shelby there without first buying new tires...now stock vs stock, a tt300zx couldn't beat a LT1 'vette or a tt supra in a straight line that is, and to me that was all i cared about and how it looked...lolol..but now if you're talking mod vs mod, well then that's anyone's game...deep pockets always win that game.

sorry for the confusion...lol. I have always love the look of my Z compared to the Vette's back then.... I think i still have this issue at home in the attic...lol. Who knew from back that the Z would be dead and the Supra would the beast it is today... I think stock for stock a Z could beat a Vette in half mile... dig race no... try a turbo car from a roll and its a whole different monster... PLUS... the major point you might be missing... the USDM 300zx twin turbo made less power then the original from Japan due to the US restrictions on her coming from overseas. found this on wiki...lol. From the year it was introduced, the Z32 has also won many comparison tests against similar sports cars such as the Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth, Mazda RX-7, Chevrolet Corvette, Toyota Supra, Dodge Viper, and the Porsche 968.[25]. I love Vettes but my Z was it...lol. numbers from 1993 Vette vs Z... i think the Z was heavier by like 100 pounds.

I can't remember if the Vette's where govern'd back then...lol. Not trying to argue but i think if the Z came over unrestricted to their full potential it would have been a different outcome.

Does anyone know if theres ever been any twin turbo Carrera GTs? If I had the bread for something like that Id skip the Lambo and go 599 GTO, F430 Scud, or a Carrera GT. It would be sick to have a Carrera GT TT at around 1150hp on pump. A TT 599 GTO would be another dream as well. LOL I had a twin turbo 599 GTO on Forza 4 making ~1070hp as well as a Enzo TT making 1094hp and both were beastly. Though I must say the Pagani Zonda R took out everything on the track as far as production cars and my Saleen S7 TT 1050hp had the highest top speed at 272mph. But thats all dreamland lol.

Awe man Id love to race you but I just moved to ATL and dont have live anymore . May I ask what car it is? The only car that matched the S7 in top speed was the TVR Speed 12 at ~1110hp, atleast as far as I can tell.
