detonation, lean and too much timing. Simple as that. Shame. He should bring the piston back to his tuner and thank him for a job well done.

I'm not gonna name any names but I was having this same discussion with a local tuner about my car once. I told him if I found out that my motor blew up because of a tune he put on the motor that he would fix the motor or recieve an *** whoopen everyday untill he fixed the motor. Needless to say he didn't tune my car!!

Gotta wonder why the car spiked 4psi more than it should have. Can't blame the tuner just yet until you know why the car made 25% more boost than it was supposed to.
Also the driver's fault for keeping his foot in while the boost alarm was going off.
That said, if the tune was safe enough it should have been able to take a 4psi spike for brief time. Sounds like it was tuned on the edge and then got tossed off the cliff by the extra PSI.
