MY DREAM COME TRUE! 2004 911 turbo kill!
#21
enisguy, yes i beat him by 4 cars in a roll race. I also raced him from a dig and beat him (i sprayed a little in first) but i could not tell the distance between us in that run. My friend in the Z06 behind said the distance was about 2 car lengths and that was from a complete stop to just the beginning of 3rd gear.
those cars have the potential of running 11.9s @119mph. But most drivers trap very low 12s. I believe a below average driver should run not slower than 12.4 @116mph

Those are some killer cars. Congrats!!!
Hmm. I trapped 117 last time out, so maybe I can go hunting??!....
...They're my target also. Can't wait to run into one. I would need heads and low 120 traps to make it a better race though (no juice here).

I have the porsche twinturbo as well. That's a good accomplishment if you can beat one. Most of the porsche's power comes from 2nd gear and up (especially second)... when you hit the gas on second, the force pulls you back in your seats... my friends tell me it feels like a roller coaster in the passenger's seat. First gear revs too fast and may have a disadvantage, but once it gets to second, the race is on. it will accelerate from 100 to 160mph with ease. after 100 mph the car still takes off with force and you cannot even see the plates. congrats.

Road and track tested the 0 to 100mph. the porsche turbo stacked on top as #1:
Porsche Turbo 8.8 sec
Lamborgini Murceliago 9.1 sec
Dodge Viper SRT 10 9.2 sec
Mercedes E55 AMG 9.8 sec
Ferrari 575 Maranello 9.8 sec
Mercedes SL55 AMG 9.9 sec
Audi RS6 11.0 sec
These supercars produced:
Ferrari Enzo 6.9 sec
Saleen S7 8.6 sec
Porsche Turbo 8.8 sec
Lamborgini Murceliago 9.1 sec
Dodge Viper SRT 10 9.2 sec
Mercedes E55 AMG 9.8 sec
Ferrari 575 Maranello 9.8 sec
Mercedes SL55 AMG 9.9 sec
Audi RS6 11.0 sec

Saleen S7 8.6 sec

Good kill, although the Z shouldn't have won unless the 911 driver was granny shifting.

interesting.. dont think know i could beat an S7 though.. 0-100 times dont really say/prove much. Keep in mind distance is not a factor considered in the results.
Not trying to act smart or anything but in other words a car running 5.0 sec from 0-60 could beat a car running 4.8 from 0-60. Its good to know those times but remember the car running 5 sec could win if they both raced from 0-60. Its how fast/quick they covered a certain distance is what really matters as most people are more interested to know "whos in front?" or "who's going to win" sorta thing.
soundmaster, thanks for posting those times up. They were really interesting.

Was it a 6sp Porshe or a Tiptronic?

From a roll, the ZO6 will put a car length on the Porsche due to instant torque on the Z06's part and turbo lag on the Porsche's part. That advantage again remains until very high speeds. Just wanted to set the record straight. The 911TT weighs almost 300lbs more than a ZO6 and loses more power thru the AWD powertrain. While it is a damn fast car, the ZO6 is right there with it.

The porsche was a 6spd. I think it actually weighs over 300lbs more than a Z06. Gotta love the awesome power per weight ratio on those Z06s. .
I always thought the 911 turbo was faster than a Z06 from a roll. Even after people told me Z06s were faster from a roll I still had doubts. But after the race I watched (and particpated in) I knew I was wrong. I drove the 911 turbo and the owner even let me floor it thats when I understood why people complain about turbo lag. But It still kicked in HARD at the higher rpms. Didnt like 1st gear in that car but 2nd and 3rd pulled just great!

hmm... yeah FLYNLO, nice post. see, my problem is that I keep thinking the GT2 and Turbo weigh about the same, which is not the case... I forgot that the turbo weighs something like 3500lbs or so... I guess I let my porsche bias get the better of me...
