





Racing clarification question.



Well, how about this... if you choose to use the first choice, say there were x amount of cars BETWEEN you and the other guy... if not, say you were in the lead by x cars... that could work... I too used to think of it as the first choice, then someone on here brought that up I think somewhere a while ago, so I thought about it and changed my train of thought...

Personally, when I say "blabla won by a carlength" I am saying there was about a car length distance between the front bumper of the losing car and the rear bumper of the winning car ... As furiouss99 said, it is obvious this is only a crude visual estimate, as I don't think anyone is out there with a ruler measuring out the 100 inches.
However, being the measurement specialist that I am, I would probably want to know how many feet and hundreths of a foot you were behind me.
edit: I asked a guy here at work who is very smart what he thought. His view was that if the car A's back bumper is even with car B's front bumper then car A has traveled one car length more than car B. Therefore there is one car length difference between the two cars. Just something else to consider.
