On the street? Watch this then. 5th gen on 15" 12.5" slicks, 550+lbs weight reduction, with nearly same power as you and all the suspension mods you could ask for. He would only roll race me after this. Same setup that ran mid high 10's at the track, could not hook on the street. I'm on Star Spec street tires.
There's something about the geometry of the 5th gens that kills them on the launch. As you should already know.

Your car will still weigh close to 3800lbs with you in it... compared to a 3411lbs of a 2002 SS Camaro. Sure losing the weight will help, but if I remember correctly IRS was never intended for drag racing.

i remember back in '85 when the mag's were drag racing a stock tpi 'vette auto. vs. manuel...the man ran 14.4 vs 14.1 for the auto...they blamed it on the I.R.S of the 'vette...said that the auto wasn't as hard on it as the man. was...just agreeing with what BLACKDEMONSS said...IRS is great for handling, not drag racing...

Mayberry you gotta admit though, EVERYONE thought he was gonna yank me off the line and I wouldn't even be in his zipcode by the end. Instead he doesn't get past me until after I went into drive at 90'ish mph even from a 40'ish roll.

haha no doubt, never had any hope whatsoever that I would beat him from a roll. His race weight is at least 300lbs lighter with 100rwhp more. Only reason I wanted to run him was from a dig. Same with when I raced the guy-who-won't-be-named in the Firebird. Unlike most, I don't have any problem with racing guys that I know will beat me.

Yes it does, they went faster than you. It also means you're a shitty driver. Anyone can drop in power adders, not everyone can make their car go faster where it actually takes skill.

This mustang was on full slicks and his friend put down some VHT for his little burnout. I was on 225/45-17 Nitto NT01s, no burnout, IRS ftw

Go throw your 630rwhp on the street on stock tires and see how good you do in the 1/4 mile.

Agreed.
My car is 3450 pounds with me in it and on nitto invoi street tires with 515 rwhp I was running constant 11.5 @ 125 mph at 1000 feet elevation and 77 degrees.
Everything the same but with 555 rwhp i couldnt do better than 11.9 @121 mph because it was slip and slide in fisrt second and even third.
630 rwhp on street tires will likely yield high 11s at low 120s when it should be 10s at 130s
