True but I made so many mistakes with some of them. Good time to buy a modded car. Times are tough and good deals out there.

I don't crack on someone buying a whippled cam termi. Install some cams on a 4 valve and get back to me on that one lol

If i do another project car I might pickup a half done project with the right components. Just cheaper and easier providing it's not put together like ****.

I've bought cars done and built cars, I don't think I'll ever build another one. Too expensive as time consuming. That being said 10.70s is not even kind of fast for a street car now a days. Lol at pretending like it is. It's so cheap and easy to get into the 10s it's not even funny.

truth, 9's are the new 10's and 8's are the new 9's. Not sure if it's that I'm getting a little quicker or if I'm finding friends with faster cars, but either way I feel slow. Outside of finding a stock GN, i'm buying a project car that already has a built drivetrain. As you said, it's just too consuming both time and money to go bone stock to built if that is the original intention upon purchase of a stock car.

You see the GN in the for sale section on here for $9500?

It's still fast, it's just more the norm than it was 10 years ago.

To me, my Cobra is the definition of a fast street car. It's comfortable, looks stock, drives stock and is reliable.

When I see purpose built cars that lose the comfort, the stock looks and is not reliable, to me it is a street car in name only.

^^^^I agree whole heartedly.

10 is fast, just hang out with some peeps that aren't car enthusiast. I know it's annoying at times when they have no clue what's what, but give them a ride. The brown stain on their pants will let you know its quick.

It's not difficult to build a car that retains all/most all of the creature comforts and looks relatively stock that go 8s-9s. Just takes money. Maybe it's just me but I don't find high 10s to be impressive in the slightest.

In a 3800 pound 6 speed IRS car with a blower swap and some exhaust

I don't think it's to shabby

You're 23 and at this point in life you "Meh"most things, so you not finding it impressive is no shock. Just respect speed. You lost a friend last week in a crash, and it can happen to anyone anywhere at any time. Play by factory production car norms and not drag racing norms and the perspective might change.

Take that bitch to Texas and you can find out exactly how fast it is. High 10s isn't fast around here and we have a terrible car scene. I'm not saying the car is slow but street cars have gotten a lot faster and high 10s isn't fast anymore.

If 10sec street cars ain't quick, then you're hanging out with a fast crowd.

I live in Texas, have been to the mile, and I'd still say 10's is quick. A stock C6Z is a fast car. There are faster, but there's always someone, somewhere that's faster. I likely will be at 2k, and, no I won't be competing for fastest street car, but I wouldn't call my ride slow either.

We've got 7,8,9 second street cars ranging from street driven Raceish cars to full weight, full option, stock looking cars. We don't have a car scene anything like Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Kansas City, Indy, etc. So I don't know if you all just hang out with slow people or what but around here high 10s wil get you rolled up by a pretty large number of cars.

To each there own really. With good tire my car is low 11s capable. I don't consider mine a really fast street car, but to over 90% off people I give rides to consider it fast as hell. I know there are many people that would not consider it fast. Its all what people are use to and what car scene they're in.
