A friend of mine had a civic hatchback with an engine swap, turbo puttin out something crazy like 20-25lbs of boost, and a small shot of N20. We went from a roll on the highway and he walked me pretty easy. We never raced from a dig because he kept blowing his head gaskets and it was always in the shop. Then his friend totaled it in an accident so I never got to race it after my mods. It was supposedly low 11's in the 1/4.

So basically I'm tellin ya just b/c its an import and has a 4banger in it, doesn't mean they can't throw enough money at it to wax an fbody on the street or strip.

I beat an import once... only race ever then again my car is a POS, why would I really want to race it... and not all 4 bangers cost a lot of money to get going fast... I think now I am looking at doing a 16v head swap, which will lower compression to 8.1... then getting a used turbo off ebay or a junkyard... found them for under a 100 bucks... so, for just like $400 ish, I can prolly be in the 14's(maybe not because of my driving), which isn't bad from the 17 seconds it probably takes to run the 1/4 right now... another 400 bucks on top of that and getting good deals on stuff should get me close to a stock LS1... and considering my car, in good condition is only worth 1500 tops... thats kinda cheap...

I heart bench racing

I know the urge to make something faster is a powerful one but, you should fight it and save all of the money you want to spend modding the Jetta and buy a LS1. You know you really want one. They are starting to go for around $10,000.

A black (with gold badging) supra MKIV turbo . . .

I could not tell you if it was a single or twin turbo. Between shifts the intake snort was pronounced (BOV?). He followed me onto the expressway. I had ample time to warn my wife that we could be in for a real death if we raced. Rolled up to a toll booth and I exited first. I rolled along at 30 until I saw him exit the booth. I left myself about a 3-4 car lead and rolled it on, nice and predictable. I thought the staging was about right to make a close race for a bone stock 99SS. It was up to him, and he took it. By the time I shifted into fourth ~ 90 mph he passed me at least 30-40mph faster. Both my wife and I were dumbfounded. I knew those modded MKIV were wicked but . . . That death was beautiful!

I regret that I did not get a chance to talk with the owner and deliver my respects.

Here in houston we have a low 10 second turbo civic hatch back. I found that out after we went from a roll and he jumped ahead of me by 2 car length. I actually raced him twice thinking there was something wrong with my car and got my *** handed to me again. Then noticed the roll cage and intercooler in front. Very sad day.

I did just tonight on the way to work. Some kind of newer VW I think. Granted, it was pissing of rain, and I spun from a highway roll, had to slow way down for the curves in the highway, and never floored it from fear of losing control.

Maybe next time I'll find him when it's dry out

I've beaten many a stang, 1 new cobra, and a couple T/A's. Then again when people see my car it's not some flashy rice mobile it looks beat, and not what they expect...
<<<<<<no fart can equipped
I'm currently tuning my eclipse for 19-20 lbs on a ported Big 16g (550 cfm at 14.5psi).

There are just too many annoying imports that you encounter as compared to people who really do real work on their car. Too many of them are concerned about getting their unpainted bodykit on, or getting some 18's.

I happen to also own a 92 awd talon and its getting a new turbo and it should hit 500 hp at the engine quite easily and the turbo cost only 800 US.!! You do need supporting mods like front mount intercooler, bigger injectors ,fuel pump and mabye some cams but still I could have also bought a 600 or 680 hp turbo and it was 800US.Yes that is 8 hundred bucks..cheap or what.Stock talons can easily be modded to be 300 plus and awd ones like mine will crush nearly everything off the line.Your nittos won't help much on the street or even drag tires like et streets if you can't air them down and heat them up.And the stealth cars are 300 hp stock and simple to get to 350 to 400,the supra tt and datsun tt and rx7 tt are all pretty fast and easy to mod to pretty big power.
And of course a lot of the import cars are pretty light so a 75 shot on them can be almost same as 150 shot on our big heavy cars.It can get interesting.
So far I haven't lost to import in my 99.But sure the day will come even if I get heads and install my nos system sitting in the basement.

You need help messaging or learning a lil bit more about the 4G63 motor lemme know....my old 99' Eclipse was measured @ 516 fwhp...I had a Frank 5, huge front mount and all the bolt ons you could imagine....I should tell you to go for the new AEM computer....very tunable and a lot of options.

I've been beaten by two imports, I knew it was going to happen though. Both were AWD eclipses and we were just freinds having fun at the track. They had all the bolt ons, pp head, upgraded turbo and intercooler, as well as the soupling? for the AWD system. Both of them run 10's and mine was stock. It's a beautiful thing to see a modded AWD talon/eclipse take off.
BTW there is also a civic in town that runs a 13.5 @ 145mph. No traction.
