How much power needed to beat a bolt on 5.0???
#42
haha obviously not.. but in all seriousness. If he wants a setup to beat ALL bolt on 5.0s and not just the half assed ones that arent impressive, he should put together a nice H/C setup. And i mean ALL bolt on 5.0s. The fastest currently runs 10.88 at 126. And there are multiple that are real close to taking that title away. But those are few and far between. OP needs a solid 120mph car to cover most bolt on 5.0s he will encounter.

Like he said ....gutted full race cars. I've read articles on what it took to get there. Ohio couldn't get his past 11.7. You should've went and ran your boss. It should go faster then the car you just YouTube raced........right?

my car weighs less then that gt.. how is that a gutted race car? I havent pulled a single thing out of mine. And since when did Ohios car become the benchmark for the new 5.0?? No offense to him because i like his car but my buddies 403 ss traps the exact same with a 3800lb race weight and 100 less whp on pump gas being driving to and from the strip (4 hours of driving). But im not gonna turn this into an ls1tech pissing match. I have better things to do.

5.0 are quick and will smoke a cam only ls1. Trust me, I've had the opportunity to go at it with one.
This one on vid is a 415ish HP stang, film car is an big cam bolt on ls1, and my ride in the middle. Mods in sig...

i agree, not saying "omg my 5.0 is beast and yall suck", just saying the 5.0 becomes a much more aggressive car after mainly a tune, and a few simple bolt ons. although the same can be said for the f body. for me it seems to be a 50/50 tossup when i race my former f body brethren. for me stalled/heads/cam ls1's are quick and something to watch out for, but simple intake/headers/minor mod ls1's cant keep up.

I would think a cam only ls would could and should out run a 5.0. Not to say the 5.0's are slow because they are not. But with both having eqaul bolt-on's and giving the ls a cam if it don't win then there is something wrong with the set-up/cam selection/tune of the ls car. It's not that hard for a cam/bolt-on car to make significant more power than me......and I can flat wipe the floor with a 5.0.

Ohio had his car down to 3300lbs.
The car you posted is'nt even in street trim. It's on a full slick.
Also don't it seem funny to you that these shop cars seem to run better than you average joe's car. I mean if you have the same bolt-ons / tune should'nt all these othe 11/12 sec bolt-on 5.0's be in the 10's......it's that easy right?

Hioss... Maybe ur right, about something wrong, film car is a M6 ls1 big cam and bolt ons. Maybe his tune is killing him, but gets walked by the 5.0 Wich has bolt ons cai bama tune short shifter and some other stuff I cant remember. Good N/A cars IMO...
King pig, no one is falling into pieces. just helping the guy who started the thread understand what he's going to need.

Your right....until you run YOURS you have nothing to **** with.

And in comparison since you like to say your car has barely any work done to it and Ohios is built. His car weighing 3300lbs + auto + 620whp, traps 130mph.. Your car weighing 3000lbs + 420whp, traps 130mph... something is missing from that equation. Stop hating on the car just because you dont like it. I hate to break it to you, but if you trap 113mph stock, add 55-60whp to a car, run suspension, and a bit of weight reduction, and only trap 117-118... you fail... completely fail. Just because i havent taken THIS car down the track yet, does not mean i have never taken a car down the track. For example. Same track day. I took my 3650 race weight gto down the track on nitto DRs. Stock gear, junkyard 6.0 with an ls6 cam and bolt ons (made 355whp) through a locked 3000 converter. I went 12.1 at 114 (no gear and not enough converter to best a 1.77 60 foot). Another guy who was driving the absolute ***** out of his cammed/bolt on/maggied 04 gto which made in the 440s was running consistant 12.2 at 112. Ive also went 11.4 on sumitomo street tires with a H/C 6.0. Most couldnt do that on a slick. But either way...

Funny how these 5.0 guys on tech can never get their cars to run what these shop cars do. lol
Bottom line, the average bolt-on 5.0 doesn't run anywhere near 10s, neither do they trap 120+. I wonder when these guys will realize this.
Makes me think of when Ohioborn bragged about these 10.90@125 bolt-on cars and then could only muster mid 10s in his FI stalled auto car w/ over 600rwhp.

Yea these 5.0s are deff over rated and theres no way they can run fairly well into the 11s or even anywhere close to the 10s. SINCE WHEN DOES THE AVERAGE ANY CAR RUN FAST? I can show you a **** ton of H/C f bodies that cant keep up with other bolt on F bodies... so by all means, lets judge the car based off the bad running ones. But when its in our favor, lets judge them by the best running ones. This site truly is incredible. Bottom line is every bolt on f body should trap 130... and every bolt on 5.0 should barely trap 115. Thats the way of the ls1tech. Gotta love it.

OP....120mph car... that will beat the any bolt on 5.0 you will find roaming the streets. And probly will only take a full exhaust and gears to give you coworkers car a beating if its bone stock. And if they keep ranting about how super faster it is, then they have probably never really driven a FAST car, so they probably cant drive period. In the hands of a good driver, it will trap 112-113. In the hands of joe blow, it will trap far south of 110. Shouldnt take much to beat him.

And you were the one who posted the shop car vid which in my opinion shop car results should be taken with a grain of salt.
