Charger SRT8 6.1 vs 2011 5.0
#21
There is a big difference between the Auto 4-speed C6 (2005 only--the one posted in NiteRideWS6 vid) and a 6-speed Z51 LS2, especially from a roll. The 4 speeds are notorious for their lazy downshifts and long gearing to reach the top speed on 185 or so. Based on my runs, a 6.1 SRT8 with bolt-ons and a tune wont have enough to run even/beat a well driven 6-speed Z51 LS2. I would think internal mods or FI would be necessary. Safe motoring guys.

^^^^^ for sure. The record for a bolt-on ls2 vette is like 10.7. It's pretty easy for one to run in the 11's. They should kill srt8's.
But you never know, some people gets their **** running better than others.

I agree with the above comments, the 4 speed is not at all as good as the 6speed auto's in the LS2's. Although even those would still need a tune in my opinion as well. I see some vids here and there of some bolt on camaro's pulling on A4 C6 vettes and my old camaro did the same. What my camaro couldnt do is pull on a Bone Stock C6 A6 and that race i had to power shift and do all that i can just to keep up, in the end i burned up the clutch. I know my camaro with the bolt ons that i had is without a doubt faster then my SRT300 with the bolt ons it has now and me in the SRT against a C6 A6 vette would be ugly for me.

So you're trying to convince people that it will require internal mods for a 6.1l car that is capable of running high 12s to keep up with a LS2 Vette that runs mid 12s? You shouldn't drink the bong water.
I will admit that I am not using myself as a basis in the above statement as mine has had an engine swap. However, prior to that it was always close to the LS2s. You may have found somebody who can't drive and crushed him like the thread of the G8 GT destroying the 392 Challenger. Now you obviously beat the guy and I'm certainly not saying the 6.1l SRT8s are quicker/faster, but with a competent driver they are definitely capable of holding their own against a LS2 Vette in the hands of the average driver.
karpetcm, I hope you are not using your butt dyno when comparing your 300 to your F-bod. The butt dyno will lie. go get numbers for the truth.

I'm not ******* on Vettes and they are typically quicker/faster. Just sayin', a bolt on I/E/T(CMR) SRT8, when in competent hands, is plenty competition for a stock LS2 Vette.

****** srt8,
Id love to go to a 1/4 track but the closest is fontana and it sucks. I will put it on the dyno soon and see what it can do. Ive raced a couple of SRT8's with my old camaro. One was stock and the other was intake, exhaust and tune with 22's, both i pulled on. Can blame it on driver or whatever it maybe, i knew how to drive my camaro ive had 5 of them. I love my 300SRT and once it gets up in the rpms and speed this thing pulls hard. Suprises alot of people to say the least.

The srt8 challenger was never impressive to me. Yes of the new cars they have the most power but they are also the god dam heaviest. I raced one a few weeks ago in my 5.0 and I beat him by about two lengths. This was from a dig. If they put that car on a diet then yes it would be nice. At least they got the appearance right ill give them that the cars are sexy. A little too wide for my liking but overall they look good.

I have the opposite experience. I agree the times are similar however, when In the SRT8 (prior to now) it felt sluggish. It seems that the ride was more plush and forgiving and therefore did not allow the driver to experience the actual forces of the car. It just soaked them up. Now the numbers on the other hand said another thing. Though it felt as if I were on a leisurely stroll, it was still doing 12s. My F-bod and my Stangs on the other hand, especially the Stang (modded new edge), were ferociously violent and unforgiving hence me not having it anymore. I was going to give it to my 16yo daughter then decided I did not want her to die.

Don't get confused between the R/T and the SRT8. Every car on the road will run slower than the tested times with an average driver. Mine with the original engine with no mods was 12.85@108.35 with a1.99 60" and a DA of +1872 and I had never been to a track before.
