stock 03/04 cobras actually make between 380-390whp. Thats bone stock. They were known for being under rated from the factory. Id agree 50-60whp difference. But its NA power so while it might show up as 50-60whp, it runs like it has 100whp more

They made 450 crank hp stock? I never knew that. That actually makes them suck even worse then I ever thought. One of the worst performing 450hp cars ever. And I like Mustangs.

They performed well out of the box. Their performance stigma usually stems from the IRS and from your stereotypical Mustang driver (epic skills)

^ eh I think that's more of people trying to run too much timing cause they don't have knock sensors. The engines are actually pretty stout.

They are prone to blowing up and have very weak internals. You can't make any power with them either. They are over rated and dyno queens. It takes a Cobra 100 more rwhp than a GM product to even run with one. Anything less than 100 rwhp advantage and the Ford loses

Yeah it's not like there are alot of people out there making 700whp on stock internals or anything, they're lucky to even hold the stock power on those P.O.S internals.

Well said, my mind just blows how none of the 03-04 guys don't swap to mach1 swaps? Why is that guys? I mean the car is "cookie cutter".

I knew the 390 hp rating was under rated and 420 is more what I thought they actually made from the factory. But 420 crank hp is nowhere near 380-390whp in those cars.

Evan, where did you come up with 380-390whp in stock trim?

ive seen that numerous times. Very common for a stock one to dyno anywhere between 370-390 depending on dyno. Not so rare to actually see a bone stock one however.

Could them two possibly be stock but tuned?

anything is possible... but from what ive seen through the years. That is the norm for the factory ford spec cobra. But regardless of what they made for power, a stock cobra driven well traps the same as the new 5.0 GTs.

What I've seen and read through the years, the normal is more likely in the 350-365whp neighborhood. Which puts them at a more realistic 410-425 crank hp. 380-390whp would put them in the 450-460 flywheel hp level. The 380-390whp seems to be the exaggerated Ford nutswigger numbers.
