I was running a 26x8.5 today. 3.73s or 4.10s, and I would be shifting into 5th
If you shifted into 5th then you are probably shifting too early

He didn't shift into 5th, he was shifting into 4th close to the stripe. If he was able to go through the traps in 3rd he would have ran a better et and a higher mph. Lower gears kill a turbo car. They are totally different than na or supercharged setups. The turbo spool depends on engine load, not rpm. You want to spend as much time as you can in each gear.

He was claiming it was to much gear and he would have to shift into 5th. No lower gears do not always kill a turbo car load can also be created by weight which if I am not mistaken his car is pretty heavy. He needs to either leve the gears alone or maybe try a 3.55+ before he tries a taller tire. Trying to go through the traps in thrid is lame.

How is going through the traps in third lame? Don't you think he would be better off going through under full boost and right at the shift point rather than shifting right before it and losing momentum & boost?

gearing a car to tach out 4th gear in the quarter works good for NA and centri cars. But cars with an extremely potent low and mid range torque curve dont need it. And in this case where hes a turbo car. He would gain more in the quarter by crossing in third gear because he would lengthen first gear a lot and second as well. He needs a long gear to keep that turbo spooling. Lots of turbo stick cars do this.

Its as simple as putting a 28" tire and seeing how that goes.

But idk why you kept running that right lane, lane is wavy as hell past 1/8th mile haha

Agreed on the 28" tire, it will go quicker.

No way. The left lane is the one thats worse. Last time I was there, I was trapping 6mph slower cause of how shitty it is.

Lol calm down big guy.

You tried to play it off like you're on street tires, which you're not obviously.

And no, I drove around for 8K miles with them on my car. Great streetability.

the thing is will a 28 inch tall tire grab you another 25+ mph in third gear? You said your shifting fourth at 110 right?
