Default Two Lessons Learned in One Night

Well I finally lost my virginity street racing last night. To bad it wasn't with anything noteworthy. A green Taurus SHO pulled up next to me at a traffic light and hopped a few times. His girlfriend looked over and grinned at my car. Both of them couldn't have been older than 20 or so. Well I spooled up the converter to flash it around 1100 or so. (Like I always do at the track). The light went green, I hit the gas. The tires went up in smoke but I was still making foreward progress. I beat the poor Taurus while smoking the tires through first and half of second. But the car was kinda squirrly throughout it all. I learned a few lessons last night from the ordeal:
1. The dryrotted 6 year old tires are due for replacement. These are the same tires that the Camaro left St. Therease with in Aug 1997.
2. The street doesn't have the same kind of traction that the track does.

I'm glad I was finally able to post some kind of kill after reading all of yours. I'm still jealous that I haven't run anyone worthwhile yet. At least I'll be ready for the next time.

Tony,
Oh, did I mention that it was a hella lot of fun???

LOL I can't believe you have tires that long. I do good to keep tires for more than a year much less six. Oh well, good first kill!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the tires. Everybody else takes pictures of their cars, maybe I should take pictures of the tires

at least you got something that was somewhat aimed towards perfromance (the sho). my first kill was in the t/a was a toyota commuter something-or other. hey, don't blame me, he started it.

you'll find more before you know it.

as for traction on the street... eh, normally a little bit of tirespin never hurt anybody, but if you're spinning through 2nd on an A4, then i'm suprised your tires havn't blown out yet! i've never heard of tires that bald still surviving. i can barely chirp the tires on the 1st-2nd shift most of the time, and you're still spinning em? ick!

I'm starting to feel bad thru all of this. My kill was kinda like beating up on a handicapped person.
But I bet I gave the six cars behind me quite a SHO. Get it, Show/SHO.
