Lost to a MINIVAN I currently drive an import, but this loss is one you'd never expect. A few months back I came across one of those 89-90 turbo dodge vans. I was pretty bored on my drive home one night so I figured I would see if I could get the van to run me. The driver of the van and I both pulled forward from a light and got on it from a 5mph or so roll. Within seconds the van was putting car after car on me. By 100mph i'd say the van had close to 10 cars on me. Due to the elevation where I live (about 6000ft) the loss was even worse than it would have been at sea level due to the advantage F/I gives you at this elevation. I was totally stunned, I was completely destroyed by a MINIVAN. When I got home I did a bit of research and found out that the 2.5L turbo engines in those vans are built to withstand power levels that are amazing for a family hauler. I found a video on www.turbominivan.com of a woody turbo van running a 12.65 taking a LT1 Camaro out of the hole and showing it nothing but tail lights all the way down the track. the guy you are talking about the blue woodie is named paul... um... i think its been a while sence i talked to him. that was his best run to date on nitrous.
im just kinda dissapointed that the vr4 conversion never caught one. so far the only two i know of are my old 94 caravan and some guy in calies.
the funny thing about the 2.5l is they also put it in an omni and for a year or so offered it wit awd manual combo to back it up !! talk abou not seeing it comming

Yeah... cuda used to have a turbo minivan with a VR4 in it...
My friend wanted to get an omni and put I think the dodge 2.2l turbo (pretty similar engine, right?) into it. That would have been some sleeper...

Last year we were taking the kids to piano lessons and running very late. We were in our 96' Nissan Quest minivan and I was driving it like a granny...as usual. We catch a red light and my wife reminds me how late we are and that I really need to speed up. Funny she never says that when we are in the Z. A riced out eclipse is right next to us and the light goes green. Quick look left and right (lots of redlight runners around here) and I mash it hard catching the eclipse off-guard. I have about a half length on him at thirty and can hear the fart-can wailing but I'm still in it and that's all he could gain up till about 50 when we have to slow for a light. We are all laughing at him at the next light and he pulls up short so he won't have to look at us. Oh the humanity! Beat by a minivan on the way to piano lessons!

yes i wedged a vr4 into a 94 caravan. it was badd *** but i kept blowing trannys. the first one was because i used the wrong tranny fluid (when they say use type 4 they mean it) and the rest were because i kept buying junkyard specials.
i evently converted it back over and sold it and all the bits off... one day i will do it again with the grand caravan awd

dude, that 87 i have has a v6 in it, not a v4... beefy.
i take out "unsuspecting" people all the time... sure, the second they realize what is going on they take off... but no one expects the spanish inquisition!
