Happened a couple weeks ago but i finsihed it off 2 days ago. You can move the shifter all around the gear box. It will not enter any gears. But the car is 100% stuck in 3rd.

So what is the option? Buddy just got one and looking to get a quick run down kn how to make it last.

I think evangto is about to spend like 6k or something on a trans thats able to withstand 8xxwhp or go auto. I would trade that thing in for a newer cts-v and be done with it. Not worth the hassle for a car thats sub 120mph anyways.

He has had it for two days.. lol I don't thinly that's an option.

This is his dd.. He has a 00 z28 with a 370 and d1/afr heads etc @ 16#.
Spending that kind of coin on a dd isn't going to happen. This is the firstI have heard of their trans being that weak.

Tell him to get a JHR clutch line. Change the fluid out to something better. And get a Barton shifter and 2 post bracket.

Well yeah listen to the comment above lol, i mean **** man my friends has less than 2k miles last time i saw him, i went for a ride and he couldn't bang gears cause he said his clutch pedal would go to the floor after 2nd gear.

i literally have all of that.....

Buy a clutch
Build the trans with stronger parts
+ mods above

Then you should have a pretty decent transmission

Mine did the same... it got stuck in second gear with the shifter stuck in nuetral unable to move. You are the only person i have heard of with this issue besides me and JPC racing. The shifter linkage in the trans gets binded up.... You missed a gear didnt you? I was in second... i reached for third... knew immediately that i hit the wall. But when i let the clutch out... i was still in second.

Honestly... my trans was awesome until this happened. Once i got it back from the dealership... it was never the same... i think they fucked something up.

Speed shifted? Or power shifted very fast... they dont mind either...just dont miss a gear...

I was going to but i was denied on a personal loan. Not enough collateral even with my decent credit. So my friend at his speed shop is gonna build the trans for me. Hes going to make parts if he has to..luckily he has a mini machine shop to do so. Gonna get a driveshaft and a mcleod RXT clutch. Im convinced most of the issues with these trans come from bad shifters and stock clutches. Either way... giving it a shot.

Sucks about the Getrag transmissions not being able to handle the abuse, they are similar to the one's used in the Supra's and those are damn tough.

Friend of mine has been into his twice; this last time, he had a friend that has access to a machine shop modify parts from the Supra transmission to work in the 5.0 transmission.

Now granted, he races the hell out of his car and his is a early 2011 model.

Damn that sucks man, ive heard the same about the k-series transmissions for hondas i hear most of the reason why the trans's get fucked is cause of the stock clutch. Just get a light *** twin and build it with some goodies. I really can't understand how those things are so weak, those 5.0s aren't really the torque-ist things out there.

I think the Supra ones were made in Germany and the Mustang ones in China. All of my friends with 5.0 sticks have broken theirs but of course they run tires,are modded etc...
