Default Formula Vs Trans am

Camera car - Formula torquer v2 cam running a th400 and 2.73 gears
vs
Trans am has H/C from TSP?, don't remember the setup but is an M6 with 3.42 gears. Just some friendly runs after a car show.

Not sure, speedo not hooked up because of the th400 lol. But this car would trap 112-113mph and still have a few hundred rpm left in 2nd gear.

car has 3.42s now. I like them considering the 4k converter and 3 gears with no lock up.

Damn, quarter mile in second haha? My car has a pretty big cam, stall, and 3.27's and if feels like forever in every gear.

Good runs and awesome video.

What's the big advantage of higher gears over 2.73's? I have 2.73's in my car and I really don't know what 3.23's or 3.42's would feel like, besides losing 1-2MPG on the highway.

2.73's are very doggy. I went with 3.42's because i ended up swapping in my friends old 10-bolt that already had them. Amazing difference. With similar track conditions i dropped over .5 seconds on my ET and gained 1mph trap speed. Even learned of a bad belt tensioner, the faster RPM increases started throwing my belt lol.

Much more fun to drive IMHO.

So going to higher gears actually does make the car faster? Most people tell me it makes the car feel faster, but Idk.

In my car with 2.73's I can hit 27MPG going 70MPH, I love that!

If you like your 2.73's then i would keep them. However I would think that most average LS1 drivers would opt closer to 3.23/3.42 gears.

btw, my 11 second full weight ws6, 3500rpm converter and 3.23 gears still got about 19mpg. My H/C Formula with my 3 speed th400 and 3.42 gears.... different story.
