So my buddy at work wants to race my 96' z28. i'm not sure what kind of chance i have because he drives an s2000 and i couldn't be more uninformed about that car. what i do know is he has aftermarket headers and and aftermarket intake. No turbo and i believe he has exhaust but i can only see tips so i'm not sure. My car is a stock displacement Lt1... and no mods other than my michelin tires. 17" 235 fronts and 18" 255 rears but that's all. what are my odds? :/ before i race this guy and potentially look like a fool hahaha

What do they make for power stock?

 

Idk, i dont even know what engine the s2000 has or how many cylinders. It appears to be a v6 just from lookin at it.

 

Horsepower output of the Honda S2000 is ~240hp stock. (4 cyl)
In my opinion, he might have you. The fact you have 0 mods on that LT... its gonna hurt for that run.

Go run him either way. Just a friendly run... unless you've been trash talking his import? LOL

 

Should be a good run from a dig but he will probably pull you from a roll. If he can drive worth a **** it should trap just over 100 in the 1/4 mile. Your stock lt1 would be lucky to break 100.

Quick, go get yourself a lid an a AutoZone k and N filter, some people swear by them filters

That will give at least 10 extra to the tires

lol sounds exactly like my friend from highschool who owned an auto 97 ws6 the car with exhaust or whatever else and lost to my friends intake catback 06 SI. He never really talked bad about civics after that.

 

Wow i seriously only give him a hard time, it's barely considered trash talking. And i dont dislike imports. Im a huge Nissan/Nismo fan. More than camaro. I also came really close to buying an 93' FD Rx-7 project a few months ago. It just wasnt worth the asking price so i had to turn it down. Its all in fun lol i promise. And if we had my dads old punched Rb28 240z i wouldnt have said anything because it wouldnt be fair and it wouldnt be fun. I look for a fair race, im not trying to say im the best and imports suck. I raced several at the tracks in my Altima and we were pretty close both in the mid/upper 14s at 97-99. From a roll race in 2nd I put a couple cars on my buddies stock s2000 with a 3.5 Altima 5 speed.

I think your LT1 will take him unless he has some significant tuning gains from those headers, which I doubt. That stock engine is pretty close to max output N/A in stock trim.

They are damn near becoming a vintage car themselves now you know, from the first Fast and Furious lol.

From a dig you will put enough cars on him to hold him off through a 1/4 mile assuming you can launch decent. Race him!

 

Yeah I think it will be close. If your LT1 is running 100% and is healthy that is.

 

We need to know if you're an A4 or an M6. I think it'll be a driver's race either way. Try for a dig, especially if you're an auto. That's your best bet, those little cars are quick, but they don't respond well to NA mods because they're about maxed out from the factory. Good luck, and PLEASE get it on video!
