that was just the prices i saw when doing a quick surch... obviously you can find somthing cheaper but that was just what i saw.. and what do you need to do to get that good of times out of the stock turbo? i drove a couple of 1g's all stock and they were slow as hell!! my stock 3.0 caravan back in the day seemed faster than them. then again i dont have any numbers for comparrision but im just going by the seat of my pants assesment....
maby im just getting confused but the low torque lower end of the power band and thats whats making me think they are slow.
right but what i had inteded on pointing out is most punk *** kids are just going to slap a wing and vinal on there cars and call it a day just because they are affrade to touch the cars engine in fear that it will explode.that or there too broke to do any thing else to them....

i agree with most i was just stating that there is a misconception that it costs alot to make them fast and it doesn't here is something from a dsm site
Tuning Guide
Step 1: Tune-up, replace all fluids, and check recalls (like the transfer-case and O2 sensor).
Step 2: Determine your goals before you start buying parts. What's your target 1/4 time?
Step 3: Forget everything you saw on the Fast and the Furious, including NOS and loud BOVs.
Step 4: Choose your car below to see popular upgrade paths and results...

..

thats great!!!!
i think im going to have to start out all my 'welcome to the hobby/sport' speaches like that from now on...
ok god thats right i just helped my sisters boyfriend pick out a 1g dsm for under $2000. he is wanting a daily driver with *****... we found a clean non turbo laser for $1700 when all was said and done... i figgure if he wants boost bad enough and if he wants it to have ***** bad enough .he will build a 2.0 for it him self! with guidence of corse..
yeah i never ment to make it sound like they were a cake walk or that they were expencive to mod... sorry about that.. its just any time you start talking mods over $300 you lose 75% of the people that were intrested. oh except for annoying chrome... people are willing to pay top dollar for that!

yes ford had their line of bbl motors and other v-8's in mustangs
289 first v-8
289H.O
302
302(Boss) better heads and high comp motor
351 Cleveland, the windsor is the newer model of 351's
390BBL in special ed. cars, opt., and a bad *** motor
428
428 cobra jet
428 Super Cobra Jet
and then
429(boss)

and then the **** *** i-6... i htink i covered the motors of old school stangs 73 - 64-1/2

you can make the 289's scream... but trying to move that chunck of steel to 13's is going to take more than what you have, but you will need a nice 600-650(put smaller jets in) 4bbl that is all you need, up the comp., you will basically need to build it up, and put a nice cam/heads/intake setup, and a nice tranny and rear end... but you have a great platform to work w/

Ummmm, i suggest that you read up with GM on why they closed down the plants for he F-bodies, it was definately not because of the F & F movies......

yea, tyler knows his fords, and i know a good amount of furds and a LOT about the LS1/6 and a solid amount of LT1/4/5 series motors

Nope: Forgot one.

260c.i. V8 1964.5/ early 1965 only was the first V8 put into the cars. Remember the cars came from the Falcon line.

Oh, you should also point out that the 289 H.O. ( I hope you mean K-code mech. lifter b/c the A-code 4bbl was also referred to as a H.O.) put out an astoundint 289hp in its day. That's 1hp per cubic inch in 1965!!! Quite a "high output" for such a little engine especially in 1965.

Tony
P.S. Did the 427 ever come in a Mustang?? I don't recall that engine being in anything other than the big cars and the Cougar. But maybe some special Mustang had it.

yes the K-code is what i am sure he is referring too. 427 did not come in the mustang to my knowledge, beside large 4 doors, the cougar the the shelby A/C cobra were it was the 427 Side-oiler motor, which was a beast!!

hold the **** up man. you have a 66 mustang, and you want to build it up to beat **** *** butt ******* ricers? dude, do yourself a favor...restore it 100% , do a few fun things to it, like the 4bbl, exhaust and what not get dat sunabitch painted, zaino it, and cruise. if i ricer wants to **** with you, give it a little gas but take care of that car. You dont seem many originals out of the road these days. F those ricers punks. a true car enthusiast will love that car how it should be and respect it. cause if it weren't for those late 60's muscle/pony cars and americas 'lets move faster" life style, we all might be driving imports by now.

by the way, FORD made a 260 six cyl. , a 427 that went along with the Shelbys, and a 460(but not for the Mustang).. and maybe more... just FYI... I LOVE THE COBRA JETS!!!- just cant afford one!

Oh man, I love rice!

Uncle Ben's is good...
The local Chinese restraunt has great steamed..

How could the world live without rice? lol

As for the war on rice, I would rather declare war on idiots. I've seen some respectable Acura's and some other Japanese cars that I would let pull next to my F-body. The people who say that my car is "lame," "I'll know a guy with a 7 second CRX," "the V8 will never compete with my turbo 4 cyclinder," those people drive me up a wall. Especially seeing they don't get into the design of engines and such, they let others work on them and they don't realize it can be tough to take down a good car.

So in the rice world, I don't worry about being killed.
