Default 93` Trans am VS 350Z *Daytime*

Buddy of mine just picked up this T/A, and is still learning how to drive it. So he asked me to run the Z for him.

T/A : Lid/Catback ONLY stock everything else - M6 - subs etc in trunk
350Z : CAI/Catback - Auto

I hit it perfectly on the 3rd honk and jumped out, he realed me in and put a car on me and then I stuck there. Let out at the top of 4th @ 5,500

Does the LT1 have a lid swap or ram air? I noticed it had a ram air hood, or was that just used as clearance for a lid conversion?

Get a few more bolt-ons with the LT1 and ask for a re-match. I've raced several 350Z's and have never had a problem beating them.

I believe it's an 04-05 350Z

I'm thinking it does have the ram air lid.its a high mileage car as well.

I think a set of long tubes will do the trick

LMAO 350z looked like he stood in it forever. What'd he get it up to on that road? 97, 98mph? LOL

Good run.

Thanks man. The kid who owns it was getting wasted by this Z so he asked me to drive it for him. Made a BIG difference.

Not to nit-pick but The LT1 ram air cars didn't have a 'lid' like the ls1 cars did, it was an open filter that was fed from the top (through the hood nostrils) rather than from the bottom like the LS1 cars.

Also, 1993 was kind of a bastard year. Just some trivia, in 93 the M6 cars had 3.23 gears (94-02 had 3.42's), a non-vented distributor, and it also used a speed density tune/no MAF.

I see! Ya it has a red open element filter. Sucks about the gears :/ I need to learn more about the lt1 stuff since my 70 nova is half lt1

Said 350z seems to beat abnormal number of lt1 cars. It raced a bone stock 97ss in the fall, in the quarter the ss was ahead by half car(hell had every seat in the car full too!) And at 140 the 350z had it by about a car. Think I even have the video of that since I was in the z.

I'm pretty sure my 93 had 3.42 rear end. It did have different ratios in the transmission. 4th and 5th were really close to each other. Newer fbodies there is quite a drop going into 5th gear.

I agree, it does seem to run pretty well for such minimal mods.

Good looking LT1 car. The rearend gears in 93 were either 2.73 or 3.23 even with the six speed. It all depended on which ratios were in the transmission.

Damnit that was going to be my reply. Watching that was like watching a debate between William Shattner and George Bush.

Damn

Don't think I've ever seen a light bolt-on 350Z beat any LT1 until today

I'm pretty positive all 93's M6 rear ends were 3.23 gears, no 3.42's at all unless they were swapped in from a later car/aftermarket.

Nice run, sounds like the 350z needed the driver mod from ya if he was getting beat before by the same car.

Definitely one of the stronger running 350z's I've seen with those mods. Didn't think it would be able to hang with an equally modded LT1 .

To be honest, I have yet to see an equally modded Lt car take this Z down. Hell, this same Z has taken down several auto LS cars with minor boltons.
