Good kills OP. Yeah bolt on F-bods like yours can take down stock to mild bolt on 5.0s depending on the driver like stated. 5.0 is the faster car, has more potential to go fast with bolt ons, but both cars are not that far off, can't say the same about the price.

Take a 100 percent stock f body. Put JUST a catback on it... and remove the spare/jack. Run it down the track. If you can find me a SINGLE f body to ever run 12.4 at 116 with a 2.0 60 ft.... i will stop talking.

But you wont....ever....
Show me a stock fbody that went 12.1@114 with just tires. I know 5.0's that went 11.8 with just tire and tune. Hell stock 5.0 record now is 12.2 and tire only is 12.02 for GT's.

Ohio man we all know that the fbodies haven't done it, in the fbody day, just tires u could get into the 12s. This is a decade later and things have changed. Finally better for the mustang guys, which I have all the respect for, the thing has over 400hp.

Not if you compare msrp...which is how you would compare pricing. That before even bringing inflation into the equation...

i beat an exhaust only 5.0 when I was bolt ons. big deal, I had more mods. people on here cant seem to grasp that the newest f body is 11-12 years old now, and that technology is gunna improve. in 2002 my car would have been king, now a stock ls1 is gunna get walked by sedans and pickup trucks. its just how it is. my car is slower that most full bolt on 5.0s, and I have a stall and a cam. its a new car. Its new technology. get over it. lol. apples to oranges.... stick with worrying about mustangs and any other cars from the same years... lol

I agree with what you're saying. The msrp for a 01-02 SS 10-12 years ago was the around the same price of a brand new 5.0 now.

But thats not the case these days, if you can deal without the interior amenities. You can still buy a great conditon, low mile 4th gen and throw a cam in it and run with very stout bolt on 5.0s. I wish you can admit this because it seems like you think so inferior of these 4th gen cars when compared to the 5.0.

All I'm trying to say, is even for being 11+ years old. 4th gens still aren't that far off from a performance standpoint. Mod for mod the 5.0 will prob be quicker, I'll admit that, but its not that far off, especially for being 11+ years old.

In my opinion if a stock or mild bolt on ls1 car beats a new 5.0 m6 car, they are beating the driver.

Local we have:

2011 GT m6 3.73 car: Ford Racing (sissy) tune, gt500 catback, upper control arm, street tires 12.4@114mph 2.0 60ft 1300ft DA

2011 GT m6 3.73 car: 93 race tune, offroad X and exhaust, Boss intake, 1 piece driveshaft, lighter radiator support, CAI, ET Street bias ply 11.67@119 mph 1.7 60ft 800ft DA

2012 GT auto: Ford Racing tune, GT500 catback, stock tires 12.8@112mph 800ft DA

2011 GT/CS m6 3.31 gears: 93 race tune, CAI, catback with no resonators, slicks 11.6@116mph unknown DA (ran 11.8s on drag radials)

Meanwhile all the bolt on ls1s are running bottom 13s to high 12s (and I'm talking decent drivers...not the idiots who can't drive their cars running mid13s-low 14s)

Ok so an f body with WR and slicks/skinnies is a race car, but a mustang with the sane thing isn't. Gotcha.

There are also 11 second bolt on ls1s here. There are also 12 and 13 second bolt on 5.0s. To talk about the average times of one car vs the best if another is disingenuous.

Sure the 5.0 has an edge, but it isn't much. Very little.

Been running my buddy's 02 GT with full bolt ons for almost ten years and crushing him (stop, roll, highway run, track, whatever). So he gets an 07 GT California Style....same thing. So he gets a 5.0 GT, full exhaust and tune...same thing but was much faster. I'm not saying he was upgrading because of me, because he wasn't. He was just looking for something newer and stronger to start with. So now he has a 2012 Roush Stage 3 tuned putting down roughly 550rwhp. We ran it on the highway from 40mph to around 120mph. We went nose to nose the whole way; and he's pushing over 100 more hp than me WITH all his Roush mods at Stage 3. That 5.0 is undoubtedly quick (and with that supercharger) and will dessimate a lot of people. But I'm impressed with my 02 SS still spitting exhaust on windshields. Love the competition.

I am talking about the common times at my local track. I'll let you know when I see a cam only ls1 in the 11s there...if I see a bolt on ls1 run into the 11s my car might do a backflip.

It's just not a fast track.

So all the work you have done and your only making 450whp with a 150 shot?

And what does he have done to roush cs they don't make 550whp stock.
