TRC: Turbo K20 Civic vs Bolt on E85 ZR1
#42
Teching In
Step 2: 15-inch Wheels
Curb Weight:2,707 lbs
1/4 Mile:16.0 @ 85.5 mph
60-foot:2.8 sec.
0-60 mph: 8.1 sec.
Step 3: Stripped InteriorAsk anyone who has ever drag raced Mom's Accord and you'll learn our next trick. A stripped interior not only saves 273 lbs, it also lets everyone know you're serious. Many amateur drag racers stop at simply removing the passenger's seat and spare tire, but we remove everything: headliner, sunroof, carpet, dashboard, six-disc in-dash CD changer. For expediency, we leave the tar paper stuck to the floorboards, but Mr. To Race will find another 15 lbs of weight savings if he takes the time to chisel it off. As an added bonus, we also remove the antenna to reduce aerodynamic drag. The mods are good for another 0.5-second improvement.
Step 3: Stripped Interior
Curb Weight:2,434 lbs
1/4 Mile:15.5 @ 82.5 mph
60-foot:2.7 sec
0-60 mph:7.5 sec
That's a Sentra...much more mass than that EK...note that was dash and passenger seat, and sunroof also..lotta bulk.
Honda rears have no mounts or slides...they are wire-framed cushions.
I remember that article...goofy ****.

I wasn't discrediting, simply countering to your argument that if the removal of the interior parts made little to no impact then why remove a radio and hvac from a 'street' car?
Also my Vette makes only slightly less than the Civic. But continue to white knight for it as its funny.

Because for one you need to remove the A/C compressor to get this swap in because it will not clear the hood. You can run A/C but its extra money and more bullshit to deal with. The car was intended to drive to the track run 9s and drive back home. Its not a daily or anything like that but it is a street car. Not white knighting a thing, was just informing someone how plastic interior on these cars weigh nothing. But you seem to of got butt hurt by it.
Brb deleting radio cause it weighs so much but adding 300 gauges and a block off plate, its nasty weight savings of 3lbs. Its a race car bro.

Ive seen what it takes to get a civic to dropp 200lbish to 1950lbs (keep in mind this is a civic that starts life as a 2200lb car) the thing is LITERALLY a shell with every bracket, and random metal **** cut, removed all sound deadining, one seat, carbon fiber body panels, just a dash shell, small cluster, and 2gal fuel cell, gutted out doors with plexi windows etc.. Like i said the interior on these cars being out dont do a damn thing.

It still just a Honda; a lil' toy car… which will soon have it's guts splattered all over some stretch of asphalt, just like all the other "V8 KILLERS!".
Runs good tho'…
LOVE THAT ZR1. Just fine, outstanding; some would say, exceptional machine.

That has got to be the BEST sounding Civic I have ever heard.
All of the ones around here need to copy this guy's setup/exhaust or something. My bias against Hondas has came from the way most of them sound around here
Good runs! A ZR1 definitely isn't the easiest car in the world to take out
