its an 05, hence the exploding rear. This was my first night out on the bigger radial.

Thank you… I didn't want to be the one to point it out, cause, well… you know.

Only split the case, pinion gear half of the case flung off. I put another stock diff in for the time being but if you've got a good deal I might be interested. c5 or c6 diff? t56?
Oh SNAP! Seriously? Dude that sucks… but I've torn through several ten bolts, so I know the feelin'.

The kid is a good guy and knows his Vette ****, but if you've got a foil, be careful, he's sensitive to such.

That would do it to. I wish I thought more about the auto conversion when I upgraded but the 6060 will do

Awesome, glad it's rolling again!

This setup we have was destined for a C6 platform. I need to ask the price it cost us again(been siting for a couple of months inside our shop)...I can tell you it would be A LOT less then calling RPM and getting the exact same thing. Willing to take some sort of loss,..to recoup in the bigger end lol.

Lemme make a quick phone call.

All the Vette owners that race them around here are doing the ZR1 conversion on the rear end.

its not bad at all. i just did a zr1 conversion to my c5... the build your stock rear your looking at $2-3k. a stock c6z rear end is $2200 from gm
to build your t56 its another $2-3k, a brand new tr6060 is $3200 from gm
there is a full swap on the vette forum for $6k that includes the cradle etc.

Guilty of the swap myself.

Best choice honestly.

ok so i have a question, this vette i have now already has a built 3.90 rear end from RPM and i was thinking throwing a built M6 in there (replaced the M12 with a base M6 because of 3rd and 4th gear grind, im going to tear into it and fix and possibly sell to fund a better setup) and im sure it wont hold up forever. but since i already have the RPM rear end should i not worry about it or is the C6Z/ZR1 rear better than an RPM?

and how much better is a TR6060?

the weakest link in the whole thing is c5 diff. it is garbage no matter what you do to it. some have good luck with it and some do not... all in the driving habits honestly.

i love my 6060, its much easier to shift then the t56 and its much stronger then a t56 can be even upgraded.

you can sell your 3.90 rear for 800-1000 depending on miles, any noise, 3 rib etc... the stock m12 is worth about the same depending on miles etc. you can sell your trans brace (if you have one) for $300... you do not need a brace for the 6060 swap

the whole swap for a c5 is about $7k.. that includes, diff, trans, cradle, offset mounts, rear lower control arms, rear mono spring, and the 2 lines you will need to make, also the exhaust mod.... thats a brand new diff and trans from GM... if you go with a used setup its around $1-2k less
if you do not plan on making big power i wouldn't even bother with the swap. im talking 700 plus...

yeah i dont think im going to go much more than what it has now (520rwhp)

if anything breaks ill look into it but im not taking it to the drag strip, most likely autocross events, maybe some road racing, and maybe some standing mile which i dont think you have to worry all that much about your launch if youre just doing it for fun and getting nowhere near the top dogs

In my twisted opinion I think that the main reason why the C5 stuff breaks is due to twisting. Look how it's mounted. 2 bolts in the rear only. Nothing as an outrigger support o prevent this, like the C6 style diff's have. PFADT makes a brace that I think C5's should have came with out of the box...and ANY C5 that plans to continue to run a factory style diff/trans should maybe look into this, if not the concept.

http://www.tickperformance.com/pfadt...r-c5-corvette/

vs something like this...

http://www.vbandp.com/auto-parts.htm...category_id=73

The lower one, I had. Works well but whatever but, again, provides no actual counter twisting properties, relying on the cradle/axles/suspension to keep in check.

That said, I think the pfadt ones would be where it was at for C5 cars....

unless you go the TR6060 route.
