Default new 5.0s

Hey everyone new here. No my names not about mustangs was about motocross. Anyways i have a 2002 z28 t56 and unknown mods. Ive raced a couple buddies new 5.0 stangs and walked them out a few cars until i shut down at 155 and they said they werent gaining ground. One was just a base gt auto, the other was a rs2 6speed. Both same results. I believe i put about 2-3cars on them. My car sounds stock appears stock not even headers just a 3" pipe (still has crushed y pipe) both drivers are good too. Heres a vid from the automatic 5.0. (Both stangs we did 30, 40 and 50 rolls) i raced the rs2 from a dig and lost by a car due to me spinning bad and i caught up to him by 2 cars then we stayed there until i shut off. Sadly we didnt have a chase car on the Rs2 race. Im in no means trying to lie or b.s. in here just wondering if stock Z's can out run the new 5.0 like i have.

If you have anythoughts on what could be done or to look for please reply. Im stumped.

They have cams that make that much gain without any noticeable noise sound of a cam? Like rough idle lope etc? :/ exhaust just sounds like a regular Ls to me.

Stock gearing should be 1800rpm @ 80 in 6th.

Fwiw you wouldn't know mine has a cam unless I told you.

Before headers...

After headers

I dont believe in factory freaks... i believe in good or bad drivers VS vehicle weight...

Factory freak is definitely possible... Seen that a lot in the 4.6 2v and 4v's. Cam timing is key.

Good kills OP, strong running car

Hmm I don't see anything unusual here... My car stock would have put up a good fight against a stock 5.0 from a roll (108.59 trap stock). Would likely lose up top but if I had a better start or gearing advantage at a certain speed I could have pulled off a win.

Typo it is 1800-1900rpm 80mph in 6th. Ill probably have it dynod after i put on the long tubes and dual 3" borla exhaust. Been pondering swapping to the 5.3 heads and ls6 intake. Then ill get it tuned. It runs pretty strong thats for sure but i havent found another camaro thats stock to run agaisnt. Ive noticed it does seem to have a fast ingintion start like the timing is advanced or something. Not extremly fast start but more than normal.

Don't bother with the 5.3 heads, you wont benefit much. Literally not wort the hassle to swap to. You'll get a raise in compression thats about it. Nice kill, those new mustangs are nice.

It's a lot more fun to beat 5.0's with just bolt ons. It makes 'em all pissy pants.

If your car is an 02, it already has the LS6 intake. Good kills though!
